Visit to the "Museu Militar dos Açores" in Forte de São Brás
During my walks through Ponta Delgada I also passed the "Museu Militar dos Açores" in Forte de São Brás. You can really walk through Ponta Delgada by foot, which I really like. Because I don't like to spend my time in the car.
This military building is a functioning military base and a military museum, which is stationed in a historical building.
First of all I would like to mention that I am not a fan of weapons or the military, but as I report about things that I noticed, I do the same here.
Forte de São Brás is considered as a functioning military base and at the same time it is a museum. This mix is really special. You don't have that every day.
If you walk outside along and around you can see some monuments of fallen soldiers who decorate the small park.
A monument is of Joaquim Teófilo Fernandes Braga. This person was born on 24 February 1843 in Ponta Delgada and died on 28 January1924 in Lisbon. He was considered a Portuguese literary figure and statesman. Mr Braga was also the first President of his country after the fall of the monarchy. In all, he was President of Portugal twice.
One of those stone soldars was mention as a monument of Commander Carvalho Araújo.
He was a naval officer who died in the First World War, on 14 October 1918, on the orders of the mine hunter Augusto de Castilho, when he was attacked by a German submarine.
Further along there are numerous anchors and you have a view of the harbour.
The fatal thing on most islands is the high humidity, also here. In most of the buildings, one finds mould, that is why I did not enter the museum. I didn't want to give the military a cent and secondly I didn't feel like getting mould.
If you go a little further along the coast there, you see how the navy once decorated the rocky landscape with its very own art... (please hear the sarcasm in my words).

Durante as minhas caminhadas por Ponta Delgada passei também pelo "Museu Militar dos Açores" no Forte de São Brás. Pode-se mesmo caminhar por Ponta Delgada a pé, o que eu gosto muito. Porque não gosto de passar o tempo no carro.
Este edifício militar é uma base militar funcional e um museu militar, que está estacionado num edifício histórico.
Antes de mais, gostaria de mencionar que não sou fã de armas nem de militares, mas como relato sobre coisas que notei, faço o mesmo aqui.
O Forte de São Brás é considerado uma base militar funcional e ao mesmo tempo um museu. Essa mistura é muito especial. Você não tem isso todos os dias.
Se você anda lá fora e ao redor você pode ver alguns monumentos de soldados caídos que decoram o pequeno parque.
Um monumento é de Joaquim Teófilo Fernandes Braga. Esta pessoa nasceu a 24 de Fevereiro de 1843 em Ponta Delgada e morreu a 28 de Janeiro de 1924 em Lisboa. Ele foi considerado uma figura literária portuguesa e estadista. Braga foi também o primeiro Presidente do seu país após a queda da monarquia. No total, ele foi presidente de Portugal duas vezes.
Um desses soldados de pedra foi mencionado como monumento do Comandante Carvalho Araújo.
Era um oficial naval que morreu na Primeira Guerra Mundial, a 14 de Outubro de 1918, por ordem do caçador de minas Augusto de Castilho, quando foi atacado por um submarino alemão.
Mais adiante, há inúmeras âncoras e você tem vista para o porto.
A coisa fatal na maioria das ilhas é a alta umidade, também aqui. Na maioria dos edifícios, encontra-se bolor, por isso não entrei no museu. Não queria dar um cêntimo aos militares e, em segundo lugar, não me apetecia apanhar bolor.
Se formos um pouco mais longe pela costa, vemos como a marinha decorou a paisagem rochosa com a sua própria arte... (por favor, ouçam o sarcasmo nas minhas palavras).
Em vez de pedras naturais e pedras, a caligrafia militar pode ser lida aqui.

Besichtigung des “Museu Militar dos Açores“ in Forte de São Brás
Bei meinen Spaziergängen durch Ponta Delgada bin ich ebenfalls am “Museu Militar dos Açores“ in Forte de São Brás vorbei gekommen. Ponta Delgada kann man wirklich.zu Fuß durchlaufen, was ich sehr schön fand. Denn nur ungern verbringe ich meine Zeit im Auto.
Dieses militärische Gebäude ist sowohl eine funktionierende Militärbasis als auch ein Militär Museum, welches lediglich in einem historischen Gebäude stationiert ist.
Vorab möchte ich hier erwähnen, dass ich kein Fan von Waffen oder dem Militär bin, doch da ich über Dinge berichte, die mir aufgefallen sind, mache ich das auch an dieser Stelle.
Forte de São Brás gilt als eine funktionierende Militärbasis und zugleich ist es ein Museum. Dieser Mix ist echt etwas besonderes. Sowas hat man nicht aller Tage.
Schlendert man außen entlang so erblickt man Denkmäler gefallener Soldaten, welche den kleinen Park verzieren.
Ein Denkmal ist von Joaquim Teófilo Fernandes Braga. Der Herr wurde am 24. Februar 1843 in Ponta Delgada geboren und starb am 28. Januar1924 in Lissabon. Er galt als ein portugiesischer Literat und Staatsmann. Ebenso Herr Braga der erste Präsident seines Landes nach dem Fall der Monarchie. Insgesamt war er zweimal Präsident von Portugal.
Einer der ebenfalls als Denkmal erwähnt wird ist Kommandant Carvalho Araújo.
Er war ein Marineoffizier, der im ersten Weltkrieg, am 14. Oktober 1918, wegen dem Befehl des Minenjägers Augusto de Castilho starb, als er von einem deutschen U-Boot angegriffen wurde.
Weiter entlang stehen zahlreiche Anker und man hat einen Blick auf den Hafen.
Das fatale ist auf den meisten Inseln die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit, so auch hier. In den meisten Gebäuden findet man Schimmel, deshalb sah ich davon ab das Museum zu betreten. Zuwrst einmal möchte ich diesem keinen Cent zukommen lassen und zweitens habe ich keine Lust auf Schimmel gehabt.
Geht man noch etwas weiter an der Küste dort entlang sieht man wie die Marine einst die felsige Landschaft mit ihrer ganz eigenen Kunst schmückte...(bitte hört den Sarkasmus in meinen Worten).
Statt natürliche Felsen und Steine ist hier die militärische Handschrift zu lesen.
