How long would you search for?

I've just been watching a film based on the 2004 tsunami in the Indian oceans... It's based on a true story of a family of five who get separated and could easily assume the other family members were dead.

In the film, we see the father of the family search multiple hospitals and also view the line up of dead bodies to see if any of his family have been found dead.

It made me wonder, after such a devastating event such as Tsunami, how many people continue to search widely for their loved ones and how many are left never knowing where their loved ones have ended up.

We also see a toddler rescued by two of the family of five, after almost being left, and later seen reunited with his Dad.

In the event of such a disaster, such as an earthquake, or Tsunami, I hope I would have the strength to keep searching for the people I loved until I found them, and hopefully help some other victims caught up get rescued and reunited with families too.
