Financial literacy is almost non existent in our current shared reality. It's a sad fact. Some may say that blah blah blah blah - Justification.
I am not interested in the blah blah blah. Though it can be useful at times.
Seriously - Money is not well understood at all.
Did you know that the only reason money is "valuable" is because enough humans "Agree" that it is "legitimate" and decide to "trust" in it???
The typical history of the currency of any one nation is that it eventually dies and becomes mostly worthless.
Money is essentially created out of thin air. It's the greatest magic trick of all time.
The majority of people believe that in order for new money to exist, it most come from somewhere....something else of value - what the majority seldom realize is that the value and the play of money is entirely made up - it might as well come from my ass.
Seriously - the world is a system of organizations and money is the principal of government organization for all governments and organizations. Each and every 'government' plays a role in making up the value of money for a country.
It's not an obvious out in the open discussion. The attention is usually diverted to some other issues that are more emotionally driven - the real law and order of a country is a result of it's money movements both nationally and internationally.
We have a world of "trains" and money acts like the "tracks" for trains and pretty much there's limitless ways in which tracks can be played with...the only thing is that collectively at the moment - we humans have basically accepted that the mass majoirty is too dumb to really count in having an actually say in the creation of the world - thus the majority do not simply have access to the financial opportunities the elite few have.
There's just enough opportunity for the mass majority to fight over - just enough scraps and crumbs to actually make believe the legitimacy of the "get rich or die trying mantra" and "everybody loves an underdog story", and "divde and conquer"...."order through chaos"....keep the majority competing against each other for survival and they will always have difficulty trusting one another and creating common sense practical solutions.
SO What - Money is made up by the most clever word players....
Ya - So what?
I thought it prudent to write about money today - because it came up in me and the point isn't going away, it seems more and more I here this basic belief: "the money has to come from somewhere"....
Yes - money can literarly be made "real" from anywhere. It's like the very "power of consciousness"....as it is "2 or more in my name and I am here". Think about that for a moment - It's about network effects. Any network has it's effecitveness as a result of "Agreement".
Here's an interesting example: Majority of people around the world decide that bitcoin should be worth no less than 10 Million Dollars - what happens is a unique form of global consensus that bitcoin should be valued at no less than 10 Million Dollars - now all exchanges are working together in establishing the bottom of bitcoin at 10 million - that's a stability point - Notice that trillions of dollars did not have to be bought up first in order for bitcoin to be valued at 10 million dollars per coin.
The value is always with People. Consensus, Agreement, Trust - whatever your choice words may be - it's about "Life" and the regard, value, respect and honor for Life - All Life. The beauty is that we get to make up whatever works best - it's an ongoing creative play - so it's our responsibility to be creative with the future creations here.
It's interesting to see that the future of the world is moving towards "Life" in recognizing that each is the "Bank of Life" and the value is in Agreement - establishing systems of trust to the best benefit of the majority of life participants here.
it's interesting that it's such a process of structurally aligning to the best interests of the majority of life particcipants here - it's like we've been living in a way that's completely backwards! Fortunately the correction begins with ourselves...and by fine tuning ourselves - we can fine tune the future of money and actually simply create a superior world money system that is in alignment as, "Our World Greatness."

There was a time when money was a physical and real commodity, made out of gold, silver or other kind of metal, that, like any other merchandise, had a real value of itself.
But, as you mention, today is just a social agreement, an abstraction, that gives to something completly worthless, a value that doesn´t has. As we know, we have never heard that anybody has eaten a coin or any kind of bill as food, much less that have had sex with it for pleasure.
Nevertheless, almost everybody seems to be crazy about getting and having as much money as they can get and save, and even more and more.
I've heard that to get to the real cause of any situation, like this one, we have to ask "why", 3 to 5 times in sequence to any cause we think is the answer . I invite everybody to do so to this matter, and lets see what happens.
