Do you think they just don't like modern schools, or they just wanna have more free time? Yes and no.
Yes, it's so.
No -not only these reasons are background for unschooling.
It's Kate. She is a specialist in unschooling and coch who help parents to switch to this alternative form of education absolutely legal and easy.
She is a mom of 3, and all her kids study at home now, so she has great experience and shares it. I read her blog and visit her webinars often to be "in topic" of all news in this sphere.
Now she is making a contest: all parents must write their own reasons why they have chosen or will choose unschooling, and the winnner will get Kate's webinars for free. Parents' comments are very interesting to read, they all have their own reasons, but they all are wise and deep.
I wanna share them with you, friends. I'll start from the most global one in this post, moving to more specific ones in my next publications.
1. Outlook
If views of parents on life and its structure do not coincide with those adopted at school, if their values are not standard systemic values, if the upbringing of the individual is put in the first place, then family education is the right choice.
2. Freedom
People who like to travel, who do not know where they will be tomorrow, who hate life according to a plan and a rigid schedule, choose family education, and it's their best way.
3. Individual development
All kids are different. Some of them can study faster than others, some need more time to remember a new topic than all the rest. They all have different interests and possibilities, but at school it doesn;t matter, you're one of hundreds others, that's it. So the best solution is individual curriculum and unschooling. Here only you will define the speed and the way you will get new knowledge.
4. No individual approach
And here we don''t touch that all kids at school are like robots without personalities, here we speak about number of kids in school classes.
In Sochi, for example, many parents take their children to unschooling only because there are 40-50 people in classes!! Teachers just give information, no matter whether kids understand it or not. In my city there're 25-35 kids in classes. The same situation is in kindergartens.
5. Talents of a child
If kids are professionally involved in sports, creativity, art, the format of family education provides an opportunity for additional training, participation in competitions and training camps, and therefore, implementation in the profession. Unschooling is free time and free schedule for your own life, filled with your own interests.
6. Vaccination
Vaccination lobby never sleeps. If you're in the system, you must be its part - you must be vaccinated otherwise you'll get many problems. That's why it's easier to choose unschooling than to fight with the system or find illegal ways to get false docs about vaccination that hasn't been ever done.
The topic isn't over, friends, there're so many other reasons to reject from traditional education, and I'll share them with you later.
Your children will thank you someday if the don't already. Bravo, well done!
