Oh God that was cringe worthy when he started hitting on you.
I have my share of disbelievers as well. I have tried to message and DM some of my friends who take amazing photos and create cool videos to join Steemit.
I get a lot of reactions of I already have Facebook and Instagram so why would I need it. I don't that platform, looks dodgy as hell.
One even accused me of being a capitalist pig for telling him that he could get paid for his awesome photos.
Yet we need to continue on and persevere and get the word out that this is an excellent Community.
You are so brave to have done this.
We have to insist.
I mean, how many people in this world, will knock on your door, and ask you with money. π-so far only steemit.com is doing something like this.
How many people will offer their true friendship without asking anything in return- you can find something like that on steemgigs.
Those people from Facebook are in danger ππ.
That's what you can expect from some specific groups of people on Facebook!
If you see a large number of people on Facebook are just using it because their friends use it too and they don't focus so much or care on what else is out there, they just get stuck with what the rest are using.
Just like that chat you had, I don't think you can find quality people that way from Facebook.
I guess instead if you have some good exposure on Facebook the make frequent posts about this platform and how you are enjoying it.
This will surely attract the eyes of your readers in the long run.
No pain of messaging people individually, people who care will message you on their own.
I think this is the best way to do this. π

I guess the introducemyself blog post is one of the most significant way to gain some mass attention and followers.
That's why I'm trying to build up my followers base first through interacting with the community here on comments so when I finally make my introduction post I'll surely get the most exposure possible.

It's little daunting at first everything there but I'll surely get the hang of it soon.
As it seems to me there are discord servers which are like groups like Steem Gigs and also you can have friends there like there is always a default WhaleBoT.

So so so different and this is a very special difference that you picked up. The nature of the community is starkingly different. On Facebook even, one's account can get suspended by doing even harmless friend requests, especially, if these people are located in different locations from you. There is a lot of luxury we have on steemit especially in the world of the internet
Hopefully others will understand that it is not easy to convince a nonsteemian to become a steemian, and you as witness have the duty to make newbies to enjoy spending time with us.

Earning from comments is supportive in many cases and you guys have supported it. Obviously it makes us motivated to use steemit from people like you @artaddict @surpassinggoogle
