THE REDRUM HOUSE

in #urban4 years ago

I came across this location with fellow explorer @slobberchops.
I was advised it was donned the Dolls House? The research I’ve done has just led me to dead ends. All I do know is that the land that surrounds the property was a hoarders paradise, with cars, sheds and garages being left and abandoned. So as you can imagine I was quite excited to be on my way to explore this place with all its abandoned keeps sakes and history.

When we arrived I was a little disappointed to find that all the cars and the hoard of abandoned memories had gone? It looked as if the local authorities had perhaps been and cleaned it all up. The first thought was “well the house is going to be definitely sealed up then”.

As we both discreetly recon the house for ways to infiltrate. To my surprise I could see a way in that was going to be a little easier than previous explores we had done.

As I scrabbled through our infiltration point, I came across the old fireplace and the solid wooded doors, It looked a little spooky, but that adds to the thrill of the explore.

The house its self was in great condition hardly any vandalism at all. As you’ll be able to see from the video HERE. 117228784_2674822349512165_3460571120746513227_o.jpg

As I was taking a few shots, slobberchops came into the room and said: “I was told there was a MURDER here!” Ameadietly this made my hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

I then, a little nervously progressed through the rest of the house.

Being on edge I kept hearing little bangs and creeks, some of which I could put down to slobberchops.

As I walked into the kitchen I came across a dead pigeon on the floor, not that I’m not used to coming across dead pigeons at the locations we do but this seemed a little odd in the way it looked like its neck had been snapped and it looked kinda fresh? I’m no pigeon doctor, but that’s how it seemed to me.

I continued to go through the rest of the ground floor rooms and then up the stairs.

One of the bedrooms I walked into, I was greeted with the message REDRUM in red paint plastered across the wall. SEE ON VIDEO

With the words, slobberchops had said not 20 mins earlier “THERE WAS A MURDER IN THIS HOUSE” ringing in my head, I don’t mind saying I may have added to the stagnant smells already In the room.

At this point, I jumped, from hearing a loud voice come from another room “Have you seen these? my grandad used to smoke these”. I walked into the room Slobberchops was in finding him taking a shot of old box that once must have stored cigarettes from a forgotten era as I didn’t recognise the brand.

Not long after this is when we both called it a day with this one, but the house did have an eerie vibe to it and I was little relieved to be out.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I could not see any dolls in the house, so I don’t know why it was baptised that in the first place? Maybe when it had all the hoard stuff there prior? So due to this, I re-baptised it “THE REDRUM HOUSE” due to slobberchops little input and the words REDRUM written on the wall in red paint.

It does look like a typical doll's house. Some nice items in there and it looks like it could be done up. It's sad to see nice old houses abandoned as they are likely to get trashed or just rot eventually.

Actually now you mansion it, light
bulb 💡 moment haha. Hit the nail on the head steevc. Yes it's a real shame, but the land around it had been cleaned up according to my accomplice. So maybe there's hope for Doll's house yet?

There's a place near us known as the Doll's House, but that's because it's small.

A shame the outhouses where gone, there was a lot of junk inside them on my first visit almost 2 years ago.

I know buddy, I was gutted myself. But the house was a real cherry.

What a cracking find to the non urbex nosey person! I love the period fireplaces and the old furniture. I'd love to have a house fitting for old sideboards and desks but they'd look pretty naff in these 1990's walls.

lol now I wonder how that red paint got there! Maybe @slobberchops found it in a storage room?

It really does look like a great old house :)
