Project Details

"GitLab is a single application for the entire DevOps lifecycle that allows teams to work together better and bring more value to your customers, faster." - that's how GitLab is described in their website. This means software development teams within an organization can seamlessly work together, making them more efficient - and ultimately, bring more value in less time.

This is my fourth contribution to the localization of this project and I have learned a lot about GitLab that really impressed me. I find it awesome that organizations like SONY, BAYER, CERN, Nasdaq, and NASA use it, and that GitLab has ranked 4th in the List of 2018's Fastest Growing Companies.

Also, Forrester, an American market research company, evaluated them as a strong performer in VSM Tools Evaluation, and goes as far as saying that GitLab is a "Leader in CI Tools Evaluation".

Contribution Specification

The screenshot below is a report generated from Crowdin which shows that between the 12th and 13th of November, I translated 2136 words to Filipino, my native language. The number 2794 represents the number of Filipino words that replaced those 2136 words. It only means that it takes more Filipino words to express a thought.

Crowdin Reports

The following is a list of words defined as Technical Terms and I did not translate those, as indicated in GitLab's Translation guide:

  • Milestone
  • Environments
  • Toggle
  • Zone
  • Nodes
  • Kubernetes
  • Prometheus
  • Google Kubernetes Engine
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Helm Tiller
  • Ingress
  • IP Address
  • ID
  • Link
  • Path
  • API
  • URL
  • Checksum
  • Request
  • Mirror
  • Pipeline

Aside from technical terms, GitLab instructs that variables not be translated as well. Below is an example of a variable.

In which case, the whole string was left untranslated. Whereas below are samples of translated strings.

God bless and best regards to family :)

lol. =D Thank you, Arnold!

Oh my! It's been almost a year since we last saw each other!!! Maybe we can visit you some time? Before Red starts working again. Do you still use the same number? I changed mine and I'm not sure if you got the message from me informing of my new one.

Love to you and the rest of your family, brother!

Hi @dandalion
I am a bit okay but still have pain issues, could not even walk because of hip joint and could not enjoy foods because of loss of appetite due to my parathyroid medicine which I take everyday. It sucks because I feel like a burning candle, I guess I am not okay with that regard LOL Such a life but I have to stay strong and I just trust God.
I still use my old number but just don't even bother visiting me, I just needed your prayers.
God bless and keep you and God' face shine upon you and your family.

Great work, my friend! ;)
