In China, a loud scandal broke out, in the center of which was a major pharmaceutical manufacturer from the province of Jilin Changchun Changsheng Life Sciences. This company is the second largest in the country in terms of production of rabies vaccine.

The state food and drug administration of the PRC stated after the audit that Changchun Changsheng Life Sciences should immediately stop the production of the vaccine. From the provincial authorities, the Agency demanded to withdraw the company's certificate of good manufacturing practice (GMP), as well as an international license for the production of medicines, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the statement of the state administration.

The audit of the company's activities showed that the manufacturer falsifies data and violates state standards of product quality. The Department reported that the batch of vaccine produced with violations, was not put on the market and is under control. The investigation at the enterprise is ongoing.

However, these statements did not reassure the citizens of China, they openly Express their concern and even anger in social networks. Some users accuse the company of irresponsibility, as well as the pharmaceutical industry and even the Chinese authorities.

Changchun Changsheng is a subsidiary of Changsheng Biotechnology. According to the Central television of China, the latter has already made a public apology and voluntarily withdrew all its rabies vaccine present on the market. The manufacturer noted that the withdrawal of such a large amount of vaccine will cost him about 200 million yuan (about 30 million dollars).

In China, this is the second in recent years a major scandal associated with the production of vaccines. On 18 July, the food and drug administration of Jilin province reported the start of an investigation into the production of diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine (DTaP). Another major scandal occurred in China in February 2016. Then the Shandong provincial police reported the arrest of a mother and daughter who had been accused of illegally selling expired or stored vaccines in 20 provinces of China since 2011. Women received 19 and 6 years in prison. At the end of 2013, seven children died in the Chinese city of Shenzhen after vaccination against hepatitis B.
