Well, this should probably be a post and not a comment but....
I'll bite.
You mentioned that writing content is the "bare" minimum. I'll be the first to admit that I'm probably guilty of that. I write my daily blog in Actifit and a few times a week in the Hive Learners. Of course the Actifit post is short and the Hive Learners post is long (way way too long usually). I collect my Hive rewards and go on my way....
Sort of.
You also mentioned the KE score. I'll admit that mine is fairly poor and was over 3 at one point. Another metric that puts me on the "Let's not throw an upvote his way" and I wouldn't blame you for a thought like that.
You mentioned making connections and being part of the community. Honestly I'm terrible at that. Having said that I've made a few connections that are the reason I keep on posting on Hive. @saffisara who made me feel at home on Splinterlands. @elizabethbit who regularly says hello on Actifit. @monica-ene who made me feel welcome on Hive Learners. @dlmmqb who gave me etiquette tips for hive and @gwajnberg a fellow Canadian who made my posts feel appreciated. But honestly? I'm not a social media guy. No Youtube channel, no facebook posts, no Twitter/X feed and absolutely no OnlyFans or TruthSocial.
Honestly, if there was someone to look over on Hive it would be me.
But, I want to add value in a different way
Personally I see HIVE as being an absolutely awesome tool for :
Poverty alleviation
Real World Blockchain Adoption and
A viable way to store censorship free information
So, if anyone ever asks me about my social media and why I love blockchain? I'll point them to HIVE. If anyone asks how I would recommend someone with no options get ahead? I'd point them to HIVE.
And to that end.... I want to use my writing and efforts to show people how it is done.
FIRST: Making money on Hive AND in the real world.
In real life I started with nothing and when I was young I scavenged bottles from garbage cans. So I know what its like to be on the bottom rung of society.
If you look at my very first posts on this account you will see that I started with absolutely ZERO HP and nothing more than the account name and passwords. With a lot of hard work writing and learning the system I've created a value of over $1500 HBD. Yes, I've taken some off chain. Yes, I've powered down HP to buy AFITX tokens and support the Actifit community.
However, I've also used a fair amount of what I've powered down to buy real world investments to funnel right back into buying more HIVE. In fact that's a basic tenet of the Great Little Dragons community which I'm working to build up. How do you make value on HIVE and how do you diversify to real world investments so that you can both strengthen hive for other people and bring in steady income for yourself.
I use my voice here and my account here so that I can sit down with anyone I meet and show them that anyone, anywhere, can start from zero. Not even enough resource credits to post an image...and eventually end up with a real world nest egg. With proper diversification make real world and virtual investments so that they can get ahead.
If anyone says "It's impossible" I can use my account and say "It isn't impossible. It's just a heck of a lot of work". I hate social media and I hate writing, so if I can do it anyone can.
The blockchain is what really interests me
Now if anyone asks me point blank do I like Hive as a blogging site. I'd say...nah...the learning curve is too steep, the rewards are too small, and the search engine for finding posts is too frustrating. However, I'd quickly add on...but if you look at it as a blockchain? Wow. It's amazing and has so much potential.
The other half of the Great Little Dragons mission is making dApps which take advantage of the blockchain itself. Most people don't realize but being able to get free storage you can access anywhere in the world, for free, secure, censor resistant and permanent. That is SO cool!
But let me explain why it is so awesome.
I've developed a dApp which allows me to take small files, encrypt them with ChaCha20 encryption, and store them on the Hive blockchain. Then retrieve them anywhere at anytime. Cost: Free...well, just resource credits. I haven't released the dApp because I haven't found a good way to get enough beta testers for Playstore and I don't have enough time to finish it off at the moment. However, I fully expect it to come to fruition. Not sure how it will look yet though...
But why is that useful?
It means I can make copies of my travel itineraries, hotel reservations, attraction tickets and whatever else I may need when I'm away from home and securely store them on chain. If I lose my phone? No problem I can access hive from ANY computer ANYWHERE. Yes, there are some logistics involved in retrieving the file but its so nice to have a file storage place where it can't get lost and can't get deleted. Plus its encrypted so prying eyes can't look.
I'll be supporting HIVE by releasing that as a dApp.
Posts as long term personal storage.
If you look at the Great Little Dragons community you will also notice that I've made some accounts which just post to track investments. Not designed to provide useful content for communities. Not designed to upvote anyone. But I can post in the accounts daily blog about purchases, book value, dividends and more. With governments requiring documentation and paying taxes having an account which can't be deleted or altered gives an awesome way to track investments. Enough RC and you can make accounts for free and store information forever..again in a place you can never lose. So cool!
And yes I have created a dApp which allows a user to make an account, keep the passwords safe, and store data securely to make tax reporting easier. It may not be Hive the social media but it certainly uses Hive the blockchain.
ALTcoins on Hive
I've also created the GLD token as a way to figure out how to use ALTcoins on HIVE. The ability to do that is of insane value! Every time I look at loyalty programs for major vendors (like Lazada in the Philippines, Loblaw in Canada, or even Burger King worldwide) I see the points they give and the constant requests for "Send us feedback and get a free burger (or chance to win money)". Seriously? Could you imagine if Burger King offered BRK tokens on HIVE and upvoted comments on a Burger King tribe? How cool would that be? The major company could give out value and prevent fraud, duplication and get feedback on an unhackable blockchain. With Hive's 8 second validation I've got an dApp which shows that sidechain tokens can be used for purchases or given out with purchases with no fees in a quick manner. Again, just a prototype using the GLD coin but when I show people how easy it is to make a loyalty program with no ongoing costs....well, I find it exciting even if other people do not.
NFT's on HIVE
Now I have headed over to Tribaldex and setup the ability to mint NFT's. Paid the 100 BEE tokens and now I can mint them. Sort of. I later found out that NFT's require having a tribe (1000 BEE) and they also need more knowledge than I currently have. But...
... NFT's on HIVE could be SO powerful! Imagine if your tickets to HiveFest were all NFT's. You could buy the NFT on the marketplace and scan it to get into the event. Cool... But if you couldn't go.. list the NFT on a secondary marketplace and someone could buy it no problem. When the event is over? You still have the NFT as a permanent souvenir! Now imagine you expanded that to hotel bookings, concert tickets, airline flights, etc etc etc. Someday I'll work on that as a totally awesome idea I can show a hotel owner, concert organizer, or maybe just use it for my own campground. Have to learn a lot and get a bunch of cash for those BEE tokens first though.
GLD token as a proxy investment
I recently read an article about the possibility of using blockchain to validate stock market transactions. How if you made stocks available on blockchains you could give worldwide access to stocks which people in developing nations simply cannot do without outrageous fees. On Hive? Creating a virtual stock market with virtual tickers would be trivial. Well, it would cost 100 BEE for every token you wanted to list, but still... While doing it is trivial, doing it right and making it regulation approved would be unbelievably hard. Still, I'm going to try to figure out a way that the GLD token can act as a proxy for real world investments. If I can ever do it without getting myself into legal trouble
At the end of the day I think I'll probably fall into your "Not ideal Hive social media writer". I don't engage enough. I don't curate enough. I don't make enough contacts or bring enough people onto the blockchain.
Then again, I like to think that I'm making a blueprint for how people can get ahead both on HIVE and with real world investing. I'm trying to create a community show people how to invest but also show people what cool dApps can be made to make Hive so much more than posting and curating.
Who knows, maybe if a major corporation ever sees just how useful Hive could be in running a points program, or a feedback program, or coupons/NFT's to streamline their system...By seeing apps I write. Well, I think that would be a pretty decent addition to the Hive ecosystem :)
Haha, it's past 4 am here and I just got done with a lot of zing work when i saw this reply :D
just letting you know and reminding myself with this comment to read it tomorrow, thanks for your time!
You have nice ideas buddy! And also I like the way you think ahha
Haha.... I have too many ideas and too little ability to get them going. Very frustrating. But hopefully I'll have more free time when the homestay children return to Korea and I can get back to work :)
