in #vegan6 years ago (edited)

As the popularity of veganism is increasing day by day, the vegan fest is regularly organized in various countries but this time it has become news in the various newspaper in India. There is some importance of this event as China is assumed as the largest consumer of animal products in food. According to a report China is the world’s largest market for beef, pork, and poultry. China is also known for such type of animal food which is considered weird in another part of the world.

According to various news sources around 10,000 people are expected to take part in the ' Plant Based' festival in Beijing this weekend. This event aims to reflect the growing popularity of veganism in China, especially in the younger population.
Vegetarianism in China is on the rise, a trend no better evidenced than by the arrival of Beijing's first-ever plant-based festival this September. Festival is set to feature a market with over 100 vegan food vendors, an outdoor fitness festival, loads of live music and an evening afterparty.
According to Jack Kleinman, co-organiser of the event-

"Our main objective is to provide a fun, entertaining and fulfilling experience for festival attendees so that they can learn about plant-based food and fitness in a friendly and supportive environment.

Pop's market will be offering a broad range of organic and green brands selling everything from food, sporting goods, clothing, art, beauty and more, while FitFest, an outdoor sports festival, will feature fitness coaches leading classes in yoga, Zumba, aerobics, CrossFit and more. For non-fitness fanatics, head over for a plant-based party night (dubbed Rock Moon Night) from 7.30pm onwards for live DJs, food, craft beer, organic wine, and cocktails.

According to the organizers, in the future, similar events will also be held on later dates in cities including Chengdu, Shenzhen, and Shanghai.

This event is an indication that “A new generation of vegan consumers are rising and expanding in China as everywhere else, seeking a healthy, green and compassionate lifestyle.

Nice to read about it. It is a great surprise that veganism is increasing in a country where unconventional and weird animals are eaten. I appreciate the spirit of those Chinese people who are opting veganism.

I don’t think i will ever be able to give up bacon though.
