4 Reasons Why You Should NOT Go Veg And The Only Reason Why You Shouldn't Actually Be a Meat Eater - PART I

in #vegan7 years ago (edited)

Have you been wondering lately about the universe, the stars and what you're going to eat tomorrow during your lunch break? Are you feeling confused about the title of my post or about what it is good to eat and what you shouldn't introduce into your body? (don't get me wrong, I'm still talking about food)

Well this ultimate guide will answer all of your questions, except the ones about the stars and the universe. Those ones I will answer in a new post next week if I reach 3 billions and a half upvotes for this post.

Me looking for the answers to the questions about the stars and the universe

Reasons why you should NOT be a vegetarian/vegan

Anne Hathaway after she chose a plant-based diet

1 - It's healthier
FALSE. Or well, it is debatable. You'll find bunch of bloggers, YouTubers and, most of all, scientists proving a veg diet is healthier. And on the other hand a parallel bunch proving it is not, or that it's even dangerous, or that your skin will become green or something.

2 - Animals suffering
Animals do suffer the meat production. They do suffer even more the large-scale industrial meat/dairy production. People on Earth suffer as well. Some of them starve to death. We are just not aware of it. When you face suffering, you cannot just close your eyes and act like nothing ever happened. You can only empathize and try to make something to reduce that suffering. It's a natural and innate quality of us, I think. But once that pain is far away from your eyes, then your heart and mind are going to forget it quite soon, overwhelmed by the daily grind. I don't think such a reason can actually be the basis of a radical change in your diet. So stay away from those “Nazi-vegans” who will show you pictures of slaughtered animals or super violent intensive farms' secret footage. That is psychological terrorism. I mean: be AWARE of it, be aware of the suffering, but don't feel guilty about it. Guilt trip is the worst starting point to achieve anything in life.

3 - Pollution/making the world a better place
Yes, meat/dairy (when i say “meat”, fish is included) industry is the number one cause of CO2 production worldwide. Yes, more than cars. Basically cow farts are more poisonous than your 20 years old car. Nature always wins man. This itself could be a valid reason, because when you eat a Big Mac you are polluting yourself and the Planet much more than the 2 kilometers ride from your couch to the bar to have a beer. It could be a valid reason but again you can find bunch of scientists and activists proving you what I'm saying with analysis and data. But also a bunch of, let's say, Trump supporters who would prove you the exact opposite. With science, analysis and data as well. And the game goes on. Again, everything is relative.
And even if tomorrow the greatest-smartest scientist on Earth claims that meat production is not sustainable and it has to stop, I'm sure it's not going to be enough for you to change your diet. Because:
a) you're a moron and you don't care
b) you voted for Trump
c) a) and b) combined
d) You just don't care
Maybe you're a nihilist or you just don't care for something you'll not be witnessing the effects of. That's ok, your life your choices.
And even if you're not a moron and you'll change your diet because you watched Leonardo DiCaprio documentary and you got all excited about it, you're not going to last more than 10 days.
Because:
a) You went veg because Leo DiCaprio is so damn cool and you want to be just as cool.
b) You went veg cause you got all anxious and you started to feel guilty for global warming and polar bears. Again, guilt trip: not enough.

4 - We don't have the canines of carnivorous mammals/ Homo sapiens is not biologically supposed to eat meat...
Leave this debate to angry YouTube/Facebook commenters, please. Because seriously... Who cares?! Human beings have always been eating whatever would make them survive out there. And they would eat YOU, angry chubby YouTube commenter, if it was necessary. Cannibalism does exist in some cultures, deal with it.
Anyway, you're actually going to change your diet because History said so? Really? Then great! Good for you, you're the Man!

So this said, I'm a vegetarian and I would like to share with you the reasons why and how I became one. Actually as I wrote in the title, the ONE reason why you could not eat meat again, so you should consider it.

My first intention was to write about it right after the 4 reasons, but this ended up being way too long and I see you bored there scrolling on the screen, so I'll post it tomorrow.

Thanks for reading until here actually, that was way over my expectations.

Stay tuned for more and see you tomorrow.

Interesting read. You have boldly negated (or skipped) all the major reasons given by vegetarian community. Now it makes me wonder what is that one reason which is more powerful to bring up that change in omnivorous and why those "nazi vegans" couldn't figure it out so far!

Waiting with bated breath to hear your story.

Thank you for your reply! I did that on purpose and with irony because for how valid are those and other reasons, I think sometimes they tend to develop more anxiety than real motivation to change your diet and lifestyle. Anyway, I'm happy I made you curious.
