As some of you might have heard about the shocking news on Youtube. They are trying to change their rules and platform in order for bigger creators to benefit. I dont think it affects me in any way, as I dont make much money on youtube and I am not a small creator but I am also not a huge one. Up to this date, i still only make under 200 dollars a month!!!! and that is pretty much full time work! So the news is that you have new regulations now to be able to monetise your content.
That is why I am telling everone now FORGET YOUTUBE - you missed out and even I missed out!!! but dtube IS THE FUTURE!!! All creators should start using DTUBE!!!

Starting today we’re changing the eligibility requirement for monetization to 4,000 hours of watchtime within the past 12 months and 1,000 subscribers. We’ve arrived at these new thresholds after thorough analysis and conversations with creators like you. They will allow us to significantly improve our ability to identify creators who contribute positively to the community and help drive more ad revenue to them (and away from bad actors). These higher standards will also help us prevent potentially inappropriate videos from monetizing which can hurt revenue for everyone.
On February 20th, 2018, we’ll also implement this threshold across existing channels on the platform, to allow for a 30 day grace period. On that date, channels with fewer than 1,000 subs or 4,000 watch hours will no longer be able to earn money on YouTube. When they reach 1,000 subs and 4,000 watch hours they will be automatically re-evaluated under strict criteria to ensure they comply with our policies. New channels will need to apply, and their application will be evaluated when they hit these milestones.

Creators large and small, established and emerging, transformed their talent and originality into videos that captivated over a billion people around the world. Good Riddance to Was-tube! We will all be better off with out their censorship and trending algorithms trying to control our thought. It is my hope and dream that technology will someday allow us have our own network, no internet provider, no government backdoor, no spying, no monthly bill. Who cares anymore for youtube ? It sounds so '00 to me ! Just let them be , Dtube is the way !
It's a shame, but people started using youtube because it gave user created content a voice and an opportunity to create revenue. If that revenue is gone, then people will simply move elsewhere. DTube is a great platform alternative and backed by steem, I think it will go from strength to strength.
Maybe now is a good time to buy some short contracts on Google.inc.

This practice of YouTube will discourage many small and good content creator from posting on YouTube. I think maybe YouTube is only thinking about how to make more profit than encouraging new creator to post good videos.
I also agree with you Dtube is the future and all the vlog creator should focus on it.
On steem platform you can have anything: youtube, facebook, instagram and very soon there will be other alternatives.

Its alot more rewarding and appreciative for the content Creators provide. Built on blockchain tech. Its definitelyThe Future of Social Media. It also causes people to value their posts, comments more than before seeing Quality and insightful/desired material will Be compensated by the community. Awesome!
I think youtube saw all the creators flooding in with the massive growth of the crypto space as well as other new technological events and said we gotta cash in on this. So they started playing a game in which sales over content and marketing over originality become the largest up sells. Social platforms are moving to monitize because they are the largest outlet to people with little cost and its making it hard for smaller fish to swim. This is why I am glad to see platforms like steemit po.et and other content creation and royalty platforms emerge. It takes the money out of big marketers and social platforms and gives it back to the creators.
Yeah, that's why DTube is such a nice alternative now.

I'm working on a post about this too! I definitely agree it's time to look elsewhere but it's important to speak out, too, against these changes because they do affect many smaller accounts. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint.
This move is not a good idea on YouTubes part if it is not trying to push creators out and make it unappealing to many new innovators that would like to get into the game. They are hurting the very system that allowed those they pull for like Rhett and Link and others to become great. I believe at the end of the day they are thinning out the number of creators so in the end they can make they become contracted or pay to stay on the platform. Otherwise, they will be focusing on other business ventures like their streaming TV and such. Just my view.

I just got the email this week as well and it is very disappointing. I have added value to the YouTube platform and I do not think they should make a decision based on subscriber count and hours watched. Everyone should have an opportunity to make money not just those that are already cashing out! So all of that to say (lol) I started posting on DTube recently (yesterday and today) and I love it so far. Smooth transition!

Actually 2017 was probably a challenging year for youtubers because of policy changes towards censorship and demonetization. While youtube is stifling creativity and expression, steemit will encourage it by giving all creators, large and small, a fair platform.
I see a lot of YouTubers who are affected by these new requirements, posting on Twitter and asking others in the same situation to sub for sub to get them up to the 1,000 subscribers threshold. If only it were that simple.
Those subscribers will still need to watch your videos to ensure that you hit the 4,000 hours required. YouTube doesn't just want people subscribing, they want people watching because that's what keeps advertisers happy.
Fortunately, DTube doesn't rely on advertisers so that will not be a problem here.

Wow. Well the content on YouTube is going to get significantly worse now. So much for 'youtube partners'. DTube is the answer!
I have been trying to get monetized on my crypto YouTube channel for several months and I'm way over even their new criteria at this point and they should let me through but who knows. They have really been dragging their feet. It is super annoying.
So that's what it is. I saw a video post about it on Facebook but was occupied with something else. I haven't been so active at YouTube like I used to these previous months. I feel like I'm running out of energy for all the editing. With all the work I put to it, I at least expect to double my earnings but despite gaining more subscribers, if I won't upload 3 to 4 times a week, I can't keep up with earning over a $1 a day. I have over 5k subscribers there and now currently earning less, 55c or so. 😕 And still with the yellow icon - limited to no ads at all when my channel is all about language lesson What's up with that? So it would be time for me to start DTube as well.

As a YouTube creator I feel like living in the ancient world. I truly believe that history is being written here on Steemit and also on DTube, and for sure I don't want to live in a history book but write history myself - with all of you guys!
