I'd only short/long anything if I had a lot of play-money that I don't care about losing. I actually longed crude oil for a few months as the Uk.-Rus. war started, since most analysts claimed it's gonna keep going up for a very long time. It was going fine for a while, but then geopolitics changed very slightly and I ended up getting liquidated despite a massive collateral. I'd only do it again if I was already quite rich and wanted something fun to do, honestly.
