While this can indeed be a problem for new users I must say I have barely seen any spam comments @roundbeargames its still something I would need to look more into.
consider that this post is based on anecdotal evidence from a few days back, so it's lagging a little :)
i'm guessing even if you have low sp, if you wait for your mana/rc to charge, you should be ok. new accounts should be ok too as long as they're getting the delegation that'll help them get started.
as far as spam goes, i think the overall activities have simply plummeted for a few days. i'm guessing spammers will be back once things normalize 😆
but as long as it's not too much we should be fine. no platform is free from spammers so..
The oddity about the "clones / competition" that people keep saying they're running off too is... How are they going to be any better?
Let's say Weku, for instance, starts getting traction. They are going to run into the same exact issues and will sooner or later need to have their own RC debacle. I'm holding out with Steem. Rough roads now for sure, but that just means we are going somewhere.
For those that abandon ship, they're just prolonging the inevitable. Jump from Steem to Weku, post there a while, get mad when Weku introduces Weku-Creds, jump back to Steem, and be behind those that decided to stay. You'd be shooting yourself in the foot just to ignore a minor scratch on your hand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The question is how much of a dictatorship is weku going to be? Depending on how much is decentralized we just dunno whether its gonna have the same problems or not. For sure its gonna run into troubles. Its likely to be just as centralized but i dont wanna go all in on any prediction.
Im not gonna defend weku because all im doing is copy pasting. People are not abandoning ship (at least not in big numbers yet). Its more like a 'just in case'.
Therell always be 1000s of other platforms. People have always been cross posting. Nothing more :)
Oh yeah, the cross-posting thing I understand. Diversification, don't put all your eggs in one basket, that sort of thing.
I was more just poking fun at the people who are up in arms saying things like "Steem is over! Everyone one to insert random steem clone here, it's totally gonna be perfect!"
Growing pains happen with literally every website, Steem is no different. Be smart & cautious, sure, but don't forget the smart part ;^)
haha yes i get it. those people are quite a small minority. also, i have lots of 'ifs' in my statements. i'm only pointing towards the possibilities of having your worst nightmares coming to life. i know i like to exaggerate shit and i may sound like i'm saying steem is garbage. but at the end of the day i'm still betting big on steem. i just like to express my concerns :)
I gotcha, expressing one's concerns is healthy for a stronger platform.
Also, I appreciate your consistent voice in this community. Lots of people wander in and out [ which is totally fine ], but I like the fact that you maintain your blog on a regular basis, it gives me something to look forward to 👍

The results seem to slightly vary from steemd.
The site is set up by @holger80. He has some other posts in relation to RC's.
This post by @taskmaster4450 is also a good read. He talks about the possibility of RC delegation pools.
@taskmaster4450's got some great points. especially when he said steemit is not the golden goose (steem is!) 😄👍
i wouldn't agree 100% that the rc system would make steem more valuable though. right now steemit inc has all the control in the world to change the prices however they want to. it's a dictatorship, whereas we need free market solutions.
i'm guessing he's talking more about the potential of the rc because things like 'decentralization' and individual 'verification' hasn't happened yet (if they do, then steem would absolutely explode, to the moon!).

I think I read RC costs will be determined by the free market. I don't think they've come this far to let things fall apart. We'll see.

Demand is put into consideration yes, but see how steemit inc wrote 20.4 update that increased the rc budget (supply) by 10x. Witnesses simply roll over so i think its fair to say steemit inc has 99% control 😐 (for now)
Itll be very difficult for the community to get together and create a force behind change, but if it does, itll be all democracy and freedom. If it doesnt well i guess we deserve the dictatorship from steemit inc 😂

if Steemit continues like this, it's not fun anymore as before, I'm sure, many Steemit users will leave Steemit and move to another platform
I haven't tried Weku yet, I don't know if Weku coin can be sold?
probably not right now.. i don't think it's noticed by any of the exchanges yet.
on a different note, i'm sure there'll always be some users that will stay on steem and remain diehard fans. as for myself, i'm only copy/pasting stuff onto weku for now (just in case 😉)
but yes, if steemit inc continues down this path, things won't look pretty.

For almost a week yes. By now most users should be able to use steem without problems

they made some changes for the newbies too. Now a complete newbie that just came in or have the sp delegated when you first join, at 100% RC has around 22 comments and over 100 posts-votes something like that

My mana seems to be ok. Day 1 was impossible to do anything. Day 2 I voted once and went from 100 to 32 percent. Posting a comment took 5%. Now I started using busy to manage my voting but todayim using esteem on my android and I voted twice and commented 3 times voting power is at about 96%and managed is barely used. Checked on steemd. 100% value voting power too. I can't change that on steemd.
Yes resource costs have been going down because steemit inc increased the rc budget (i just dont think its not enough yet 😊)

with your current mana and rc, you can comment 59 times and cast over 100 votes.
you can simply look at the bars and if it's below certain points, wait a few hours (or 1~2 days if you're really low).
personally, i don't like going below 50~60% but it's up to you.

@roundbeargames, At the moment we can see the stability but for sure many are left behind when we talk about the effective access of Steem Blockchain and it's an hit to many small users and this aspect should be taken into consideration and team have to work with something so that no one can left behind from the basic actions on the Steem Blockchain.

I really agree with you, if steemit inc they are not decentralized perfectly, then it doesn't take long for steemit inc to just name 😁😂😂😂
yes. we don't even need absolute decentralization. but probably just enough so that dapps don't have to rely on ned's delegations. or minnows don't have to rely on whales. for that steem needs way more than 1 million users (10+ million needed). it could be a thriving community with just enough decentralization that steemit inc doesn't have all the control :)

resource costs have changed quite a lot since i recorded the video, so by now it should be ok. if you have low sp, just wait a little more for mana/rc to recharge and go from there :)

You're right, many users have little SP so this desmotivates a lot. I could not post for several days and I forgot about Steem for almost a week, it's unfortunate!
Yes it was a disaster, but by now everyone should be able to post. Steemit inc couldve handled it better 😌

in the very long term if SMTs work out nicely then yes. the current small fish like us might have a chance. in the short term we have to get by with the very little rc budget steemit inc gave us 😆
