When I first started out on Steemit as @sift666 back in August 2016 I was an optimistic bugger.
Wanting to learn all about cryptos and earn money for my blog posts, I was also unusually (for me) polite and respectful of the more experienced account holders.
Over time I learned all sorts of dark secrets about Steemit, and became very cynical. By the time of the hardfork to Hive, to be honest, I had come to hate much about Steemit, but by then I’d done very well from cryptos, learned the ropes so to speak, and also had a lot of fun blogging and made some great friends online. Steemit was over, but no regrets (or regerts as the famous tattoo says).
Surprisingly, I started out on Hive with the same optimistic outlook, despite the fact that many of my friends from Steemit wanted nothing to do with either blockchain and warned me at length about what they saw going on. Not only did I ignore them, I went with my instincts and bought up a huge pile of Hive dirt cheap.
That went very well, and I arrived at a point of having 250k of HP that was by then fairly valuable. But downvoting, the bane of my life on the blockchain, was ramping up, first on a couple of my alt accounts, and then on my main @frot account. Some of my friends who still remained on Hive were being relentlessly downvoted, and I soon was too.
I’m not going to beat around the bush here – it really fucked me off. So I powered down all my accounts, and exchanged my Hive for other cryptos. Because of some funds tied up in delegations, I haven't yet completely finished powering down all my accounts, but am now down from 250k to under 5k HP.
What I’m now aiming for is just 50HP on @frot for resource credits, plus 5HP each on my ten favourite alts, and zero on the others, which I’m no longer using. So a total of just 100HP – and that is down from 250k...
I have no idea if the insider accounts who drove me to do that give a toss, and they could well be quite happy about it, but at the current price of $1.28, my investment in HP over the past six months has dropped from US$320,000 to US$128. Holy cow!
I am still also holding 5k of liquid hive as a bit of a flutter, but I would ditch it at the drop of a hat. As far as Hive the crypto goes I have no more allegiance to it than I would to any other small crypto that I don’t trust an inch. I think it’s dodgy, but it still could have a big price surge.
Meanwhile all my focus has switched at this point to VYB. Why? – there are several reasons, but primarily because there is no downvoting.
Here is the changing relationship part. Making money from blogging is no longer a big motivator for me – we are all at risk of losing everything we own in a globalist great reset, and our lives depend on us managing to create an alternative to that.
And while posting new content is a fun hobby, right now I’m more specific as to what I want to share on the internet. I’ve already been threatened by the NZ government and told to remove content from my websites or face up to seven years in jail. And my NZ based server provider has been told by the government to warn me they will have to close my account if I don’t remove any offending content. They don’t want to do that because I’m a paying customer, but the government can easily shut their entire business down, so they are forced to.
My content is now blocked from several large platforms, and it’s only a matter of time before it is all labelled “hate speech” (the government hates it). And that is why I’m so obsessed with a downvote free blockchain platform. Hive doesn’t provide that, and I’m under attack from large (globalist funded?) accounts, so it’s not of much use to me in a censored new world order.
All things change over time, and the gloves are off now. I like to joke around, troll a bit from time to time, and I always like some entertainment. But I’m also wanting to get a bunch of “hate speech” posted online in such a way that even a horse faced globalist puppet transvestite psychopath can’t block or remove it.
And that is what I’m really here for now – the $5 post payouts will mean fuck all if we lose this battle...
Jails in NZ can't be too bad, just make sure your back is against the wall when you pick up the soap in the showers. Or better yet )))

Yesterday I was confronted by a woman manager and two of her assistants for not wearing a mask in BJ's Wearhouse store. Things are so confusing here. New York State governor reintroduces mask mandate for state but most counties including mine reject it and will not enforce it. But manager tells me BJ's CEO is making mask wearing mandatory for entry. I told them I will not wear a mask, but they let me continue my shopping. Then I stopped at my local supermarket where an old guy employee chastised me for not wearing a mask.. That got me more stressed. My girlfriend thinks I will get arrested and there will be no one to take care of my cats...
New Yorker here too. I live in the finger lakes, small town between Watkins/Ithaca/Geneva. So far only in Ithaca has anyone mentioned wearing the mask. It's like they're mostly treating it the same way they always did with No Swimming signs around here, putting up the sign for their own liability but not enforcing it.
And I've noticed even the stringent rule followers are now mostly wearing them out of some feeling of obligation to follow those rules rather than fear like they did before. I hardly ever get the hairy eyeball from the masked marauders anymore lol.
We are being treated like children or worse slaves. step out of line and you are made an example of. This is all about sticking multiple needles in our arms for some un Godly reason.
Yeah, and the problem is that so many act like children, wanting government to be their daddy. Self governance all the way for me, and they can keep their experimental fauci ouchies to themselves thanks. I have some theories on what they're trying to do, none of them good. Trying being the operative word, because as it's an experiment I don't think even they know exactly what will come of it.

It's like that here, but some friends who are up with legal stuff are taking these people on and tearing strips off them - they don't have a leg to stand on.
I just say I have a mask excemption and they back off.
Even in Aus where they drag people away to the police station, it's all for show and they release them a few hours later with no charges because it wouldn't stand up in court.

Hive seems like it may have been slightly better than steemit. I think that is partially due to all the tools and changes that were developed and learned on steemit while it was spiraling further and further into a financially centralized oligarchy still hoping people bought into the decentralized dream.
I left steemit because I got tired of seeing the downvotes. I wasn't even a target but I am not that kind of a hypocrite. I didn't like seeing it being done to other people with no SANE reason with respect to the stated mission statement. I finally had enough.
I came to Hive a couple of years later and did a post. I was warm heartedly welcomed and told I was missed. I began writing again, though nowhere near as much as I did on Steemit.
I began to see specters of that cancer that is hidden in the malicious downvote...
I too have hope for #vyb though it will be a tough road to travel. Can the layer 2 token hold its own when intrinsically still shackled to the centralized layer 1 financial oligarchy?
I don't know, that is a good question, and I have several people telling me no it can't...
I also have accounts on Bastyon, Gab, Blurt, and Flote, but this blockchain really does have some unique and special features. So I'm hoping layer 2 can work, and giving it a serious shot.
We will see - so far I'm pleased with how it's going.

Hive has been better to me than Steem, but yeah there are definitely some real assholes on here who think they are the Hive police. I have thought about getting out, but this is really the only place I get any money for my creations.

I had barely used Steemit before the Hive came into existance. I can't really compare them but I do like the Hive and it features. Thanks for Your post.
I've been meaning to ask, how does the voting process work for your posts since they're here as well? Do votes from using peakd also show up on the vyb just minus the downvotes or do we need to sign into that?
VYB is the only front end that allows you to post with rewards off on Hive but on just with VYB.
So if you vote for my post it pays nothing in Hive or Leo or POB but it does pay in VYB if you have any VYB in your wallet.
I have just done a new post talking about a few front ends, that sort of skirts around mentioning that in detail. The days of just being on one platform (Steemit) are long gone I think, so I need to get faster at using multiple platforms!

I bought 10k of Blurt, and had about 1.5k already, so 11.5k in my walllet. Everyone on Blurt has been really friendly, and I'd like to post on there more, but am flat out at the moment.
Let me know if you want to make waves in the charts again, we can plan it and I will buy on the exchanges you don't so all the liquid supply is gone and we can make the same reduces claims that people make on Hive about the price jumping.
Lol I have kept the toxic aspects of crypto out of hive as best I can, but I honestly think it would be funny to constantly pump Blurt higher than the hive daily adjustments just to troll them for their low quality ethics here at hive and stimulate the investors to leave this platform.
My other cryptos are going up and down so much - down today - that I've just given worrying about all these prices...

Downvotes are annoying and demotivating and sometimes grossly unfair but they are not censorship.
Hive remains the ONLY fully decentralized blockchain other than Bitcoin and thus the only place you can post your content without it being censored.
While there are a number of other interesting content platforms, true decentralization is very difficult to achieve.
I ask you to keep posting on Hive and keep fighting for freedom and truth here. You are far from alone.
I am going to keep posting on the VYB front end where there is no downvoting, but I disagree about downvoting not being censorship - it is constantly shaping what is allowed on the Hive blockchain and it is very clear that there is big (deep state?) money funding an attack in any post that exposes the globalist agendas.
Most of my friends on Hive have either left the platform or become totally dissillioned with it and are establishing themselves on Blurt, Flote, or Bastyon.
I am at home on the Hive blockchain, but Bastyon is my future pick for communicating in an increasingly oppressive world, as it showed itself during recent events.

However I looked at your other content and judged it on its merits and upvoted plenty.
One of the biggest thing I object to about Hivewatchers is automatic downvotes of all content because of past infractions.

But there is a reason why Israel has one of the highest death jab rates in the world, and that is a deep rabbit hole...
The reason Israel has one of the highest jab death rates is because it has by far a younger population profile than any other advanced (jab crazy) country. Israel's have over 3 kids per woman while the rest of the advanced economies have less than half that.
So Israel has a much higher percentage of 15-30 year olds than other countries with high jab rollout.
The sudden heart problem deaths disproportionately affected young, fit, healthy people - the very opposite of who was at risk from covid.
That is a bizzarre and illogical train of thought...

Actually Israel's jab rate per capita (while high initially) has dropped right back and is below many other western countries.
Israeli's took the first two jabs at about 80% rate but the third booster dropped back to around 60%.
Now it is well recognised here that the jab doesn't work and virtually no-one is getting it anymore.
Do you not agree that the sudden heart related deaths in jabbed people that have affected so many athletes are affecting the young and healthy much more than the old?
