Besides some reasons, I appreciate women for one fact in particular, they act as one another's conscience over their relationships.

Imagine a guy in a serious relationship or marriage, he has a nice wife who is likable and indeed liked by all his friends. But imagine the guy still cheats on her. It is likely that he will be too bold and confident about it not to keep it hidden from his friends but he's so sure that they all got his back.
It is likely that his friends will defend and shelter his deeds at all cost. They don't even have to think, it comes naturally to them.
They are likely to convince the madam that all is alright with their friend and he isn't cheating on her even if they are aware of another woman's that is pregnant for him outside.

But reverse the situation, a woman with a man who is a good by any standard, his wife cheats on him and she has friends.
It's likely that she's acting without the knowledge of her friends and if they find out, they wouldn't take it in stride at all.
They will bug her down until she quits. And were she insists, they may cut off from her or someone will sooner out of conscience, report it to her boyfriend or husband.

Most men are either cheating or protecting a cheat!
They may call it "bro code" or "minding your business"
But I call it "aiding and abetting"
This is what men do and it's really not fair.
