Everyone has dreams and desires and hopefully those dreams and desires are able to be fulfilled. Some take a long time in planning until they reach fruition. Life just somehow gets in the way. My lifelong desire was to live on the Ocean, smell the ocean, see the ocean, feel the ocean. The setting had to be just right. The rural landscape, true nature, rustling pines, and rocks, lots of rocks. Not to mention a stunning sunset. It had to be just the right mix of urban and suburban, country and city, jazz and pizzazz, complete stillness and solitude. Fog and mist and lighthouses, endless sandy beaches and sailboats wherever I looked. Fishing Villages and lobster traps. Natural beaches that seem untouched. Tall ships and harbor lights, lobsters, scallops, mussels and blueberries. Just that hint of class without being snobby and that old Mom and Pop down home feeling. After living most of my life in Toronto I finally did it and made that huge move. I have been here for three years now and I feel that I have been here forever. That I have never lived anywhere else. This is my home. My forever home and it is where I truly belong. Come along and join me on a journey of discovery.
Hope you enjoy it...in no particular order

I grew up on a small island and wish I had lived there all my life. There is something very special about the ocean and the small village living. I have missed it so much. Thank you so much for sharing those stunning beautiful photos. Now you have made me want to move there, too ;)
I wrote feeling very nostalgic last night and home sick even though I have not left yet. I have to go to Ontario for two months. While I was doing the blog I had some type of computer glitch and I wanted to put a name to each picture. If you want to stop on by later there may be a name of each place. Thank you so much for stopping by. :)))
Definitely, I will love to come back and see their names. Wish you a very nice trip to Ontario. Please try to do something special there that you can only find in a big city since you need to stay for 2 months. :) Take care <3
thank u
Hello. You will be glad to know each picture has a name. They are actual places. I hope one day you have the pleasure of visiting this lovely province. We are open for Americans :)). Thank you so much for stopping by. xx
I see ships... Absolutely stunning place you live Marion. You pictures realy do give it justice.
Now if it was warmer we would be on the move. But it is definately on our list. Thanks for the walk my friend 😎😎❤
Hi............Thank you so much. I wrote that at 2 am. Feeling very nostalgic and so reluctant to leave. However I wanted to put a name of each place to all the pictures and I had a glitch in the computer. If you care to stop by later you will know what each place is. Thank you for stopping by :))) There are a lot of people who only come in from April to October. Europeans and Ontarians. I love it. xx I actually love the changing of the seasons. It so Canadian and the fall here is just the most awesome time and goes on and on and on. xx Yes ships. I am gaga for ships. :)))
You have amazing 50 reasons. You live in a place that looks absolutely mesmerizing every season. You got a bunch of reflection photo's I love that. It is hard to pick a favorite photo out of your batch all were just amazing. I'm happy you found your forever home. <3<3
Oh thank you so much. I did that late last night feeling homesick. As I have to leave to go to Ontario for two months. I was about to put a name of the place to each picture. Then I had some sort of Computer glitch. I f you want to stop on by later and take a peek there will be a name to each picture. Thank you so much for stopping by. xx
I just checked out all the names. Makes each place even more special. If you don't mind my asking why do you have to go to Ontario for two months? I hope all is well with you and your family
I have to go and put my mothers very large estate home on the market and move her into an assisted living apartment. Lots to do and lots of things to pack up. Its all good, except for the leaving here part and the sadness of not having that home anymore as the family gathering spot.
I'm sure there will be sadness as you pack up. Try to remember all the good times had there it will help to outweigh the sad. My thoughts are with you.
Thank you so very much. I will be bringing my laptop with me and my running shoes. So I will run there and still try to blog when I can. :))
your race has been blogged. enjoy
Hello there. All pictures now have a name. Sorry for the glitch...have a great day. xx
so today you came on a walk with me. I will try to post it in a few hours time..I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it. My cheeks are glowing. :)))
Oh my gosh. thank you for this post! We went to Nova Scotia as a sort of honeymoon trip and fell in love. Hubby said he wanted to move to Lunenburg and become a boat builder. We need to get back there soon. It's very much like Cape Cod, but ...yeah...classier, for sure!
Hey there. all pictures now have a name. hope you get a chance for another peek. xx
With or without caption, they are wonderful photos that bring back fond memories and an intense urge to revisit.
come on over ![]
We love it here so much. It has got everything and that is why we like it. City, town, country, valley, ocean, lake you got it. I was about to put a name to each picture and I had a computer glitch, If you care to stop by later all pictures will have a name. Thank u so much for stopping by. Do come up for a visit.
Wow, this really is a charming city, and it fits in with the natural landscape very well.
Three churches on the shore? How does one decide which one to go to? I wonder if they play sports against each other.
ha..thats funny.. not sure how that works in that town. Perhaps they do. That is one thing I did notice about this Province lots of churches. So I guess back in the day that is what they did. Ate Lobster, drank and went to church to repent after they drank. thanks for stopping by

Love, love LOVE!
We are so similiar. I KNEW I had to live on the sea. Being on Cape Cod for years we lived near the sea, my dear old house (which turns 300 this year!) is close to the canal and walkable to the sea, you can hear the fog horns, you get the gulls and the salt air, but it wasn't until we got Toad Hall that the Sea dream came true.
I always knew that I would have Sea and bucolic country setting mixed with city and culture. I knew (or figured) those would be things in different locales which they have come to be. Having our luck of living on the sea here, the quite private sea (our few neighbours only here a few months in the Summer) makes it even more magical for a couple hermits like @winstonalden and me. My 'city' goal has always been London UK. And slowly but surely I have been moving towards that, part of the year there the rest by the sea. And mix in some English country side as well!
Now that @wintstonalden has suddenly on a whim of luck and magic got his 'dream job' in Boston, in the heart of it, I see that having a place in Boston again some day might be part of my 'city' mix. I loved when we lived in Boston. Where we lived in Back Bay was called 'the bubble' as it is the oldest residential part of the city and everything happens within the few blocks of that area, you just walk out her door and its museusm, theatre, restaurants, shops, waterfront, and lovely parks. I am hoping (well hope with a bit of determination and forward thinking) that Boston will play a role in my 'city/country/sea' plan in the future as well.
I have been to Nova Scotia and we too had planned to buy a place there. Back in the early 2000s when the us dollar was almost double the Canadian one we were really looking, but I owned a flowershop/wedding business at the time and it wasn't feasible. But our friends family have had a place on the ocean there for ever and it's so lovely, all the sandstone and you can see PEI from their shore.
I'm not sure what it is about you Bowes, but you lead me to write letters in your comments section ;) and don't think I forgot about your 'surprise' I just haven't sent it yet as I had to finish 'another surprise' as well.
Good Morning Donna. I love your letters actually, it feels like such a connection. Yes so many similar things. Its funny about the city thing. I love the city do and all the nooks and crannies, the old districts and little shops etc. Where I can go on foot to here and there. A future plan to have some sort of Condo in a city somewhere is in the plan. Toronto I love as well, except its gotten so large. I always loved the inner city of Toronto, its the sprawling outlying that I dislike so much. I love the waterfront. Halifax has done a super job with their waterfront. Its got everything and its so eclectic. No worries about the gift, whenever you are ready. I am going to Ontario for a few months to put my mothers home on the market and gently move her into an assisted living apartment. So if the gift arrives my husband who will still be here will take a photo and send it to me. I will be taking my laptop with me and I will post when I can. Much Love xxxx
Beautiful collection of shots!! <3 <3 <3 I love Nova Scotia and I'm so glad every day that we all moved here !!!!!!!! How cool is this!!
I know. try to pick just 50 shots. hell i could of put 500 and still not be done. I was homesick last night. I have not gone yet. Hee :)))
I wish I knew where in NS my grandpa was from. MacDonalds are in there, so maybe MacDonald bay. ;) I know an ancestor helped instigate a big coal mining strike there in the early 20th century.
So many beautiful photos! The salt marshes DO look like a great place to run!
HI there. All cole mining here in Nova Scotia was either done in Cape Breton or in any area around New Glasgow and that area. Here where we live is South Shore. South Shore is known for Lobster fishing mostly, also some other types of fishing but largely lobster. The province is equally divided into what it offers. We have an area largely for Scallops, then we have the Valley which is for fruits and vegetables and vineyards. South shore for its lobsters and then Cape Breton known for mining and also new Glasgow area. Hope this helps. MacDonald is a popular name here for sure. Love those Salt Marshes..
Oh, thanks for the info!
oh my gosh...those salt marshes are so awesome. its so quiet and still. no traffic nothing. just wildlife
Very nice. Have a nice weekend. :)
Thank you for stopping by :)
