When I was a young farm wife I inherited a flock of mixed breed chickens when a neighbor, who had been renting, moved out and abandoned her flock of 50 chickens. About half were roosters, but even though there were many different types of hens, I didn't have any of these!

Wow, that's very interesting. What else did you have as livestock at that time?

Supposedly they are the least common breed of chicken in the U.S. (yet the most common in France)
