I have done a fundraiser before a couple of times, but it wasn't urgent. One time I did a quick fundraiser to buy cat supplies for my elderly neighbor who needed help, and other time I slowly fundraised to build my thorough first aid kit, but that took a few months. It depends on what you are raising money for, sometimes the community really comes together and contributes. There is someone in the proposal fund listings who was raising money for a surgery or cancer treatment I think? So that's possible too but I don't know how to make a funding proposal.
