Random information #8
How old is wine?
In a previous post we saw the bread is old.
Some of you may have noticed I also like wine because of this post, this post, this one, this one also and finally this one.
Uffff… that’s a lot of wine.
And more will come!

Today I learned researchers recently found wine is older than we thought.
"Excavations in the Republic of Georgia have uncovered evidence of the earliest winemaking anywhere in the world. The discovery dates the origin of the practice to the Neolithic period around 6000 BC, pushing it back 600-1,000 years from the previously accepted date.”
“The earliest previously known chemical evidence of wine dated to 5400-5000 BC and was from an area in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. Researchers now say the practice began hundreds of years earlier in the South Caucasus region on the border of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.”

So I guess wine is 8000 years old! It’s a good thing they invented it. I’m looking forward to my next WinExperience.

Check out the #steempub tag! Also the oldest known recipe for wine: Commandaria. It is like Porto but even sweeter. I get it once a year for Saint John's day because it is hard to find and fits in with the Masonic celebration of that Festival.
That's a good information if you are human and you like to search in History of mankind, but for us as olympic immortals wine always exists. I can't imagine the gods' parties without this precious gift and the joy, smiles and dances wich He produce!! This is a very nice post, and I'll be checking your links too!! Hard hard question. Even harder because I'm not an expert.
I don't even have the ability to choose the right wine to the right dish.
But if I have to recommend some Portuguese wines not very expensive I'd say you would probably be happy to try the "Invisível", "Herdade dos Grous" and "Herdade do Rocim" (whites) and the "Poliphonia Signature", "Comenda Grande" and "Cortes de Cima" (reds).
cheers!
