The fact the community feels Jerry Banfield is top witness material tells a lot about the current state of Steem. Do we have that many people who just don't give a fuck where we go and how we get there?
I think it's ignorance. Jerry is a beacon to a lot of new users because
- He is at the top of trending and new users don't know it's garbage yet
- He has a lot of dated content out there that people use to educate themselves on steem
New users make up a large number of the available votes out there. If those votes are powered by ignorance, the guy that is capitalizing the most off it is Jerry.
You have to play the long game here. Eventually, these people wise up or leave. If they leave, he gets to keep the vote. If they wise up, then guys like you get the vote. Hopefully, that change comes soon for votes to expire. That's really the only way to knock him off his throne.
