Balancing Work and Well-Being

in #workyesterday

If there’s one thing on my mind right now, it’s this: the weekend is near. I keep quietly cheering myself on, reminding myself that there’s just one more workday to survive before I can finally slow down a little. That small thought is what’s helping me hold things together today.

Sometimes I feel like taking a day off, but every time I even consider it, my brain starts listing all the tasks that are still pending. Then I end up thinking that if I skip work, I’ll just come back to an even bigger pile and feel more stressed. So I stay, I push, and I tell myself to “just endure a bit more.”

But deep inside, I know this is not a healthy mindset. There’s no real balance between work and life when rest always feels like a guilty choice. Burnout doesn’t happen overnight — it slowly builds up, and if I’m not careful, it might reach the point where I start thinking of quitting my job just to escape the pressure.

Sometimes, the bravest thing to do is to step back, breathe, and allow myself to unwind. Not because I’m weak, but because I want to stay strong for the long run. Mental health should be a priority, not an afterthought.

There’s a quote by Anne Lamott that really resonates with me:
“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”

I’m reminding myself of that today. Work will always be busy, but I don’t have to be on the edge all the time. I deserve rest, too.

Have a great day, and don’t forget to take care of your mind.
