There is always this lingering feeling of stress whenever it’s Monday. Maybe it’s the challenge of commuting to work, or the intense meetings waiting on my calendar, or the fact that my body still wants more rest. Sometimes I feel like my mind hasn’t fully shifted yet from weekend mode to Monday work mode, and that mismatch makes the start of the day feel heavier than usual.

But what I’ve noticed about myself is that this feeling doesn’t stay all day. As the hours pass, things slowly change. By the time I reach the afternoon, my energy and mindset are usually different. Once I’ve settled at my desk, talked to my teammates, and started working through our goals for the week, it becomes easier to focus. The stress at the beginning of the day gets replaced by a clearer sense of direction.
I think this is the power of momentum. The first step always feels the hardest, getting out of bed, preparing for work, facing the commute, and walking into the office. But once the day starts moving, I begin to adapt to the “work mode” again. Conversations with my team, small tasks completed, and shared goals slowly turn Monday from something I dread into just another day I can handle.
There’s a quote by Mary Engelbreit that says, “If you don’t like something, change it, if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.” I may not be able to remove Monday from the week, but I can choose how I respond to it.
Hopefully, this week will be a smooth one, from this Monday all the way to the weekend once more.

Monday, being the first work day after a weekend without work, makes the transition an unhappy one for most people, but since we can't change it, we have to change how we see Mondays.
