Once again, it’s the beginning of the week, and if you feel excited about going to work today, I honestly want to congratulate you. It means you did your part in preparing—mentally, physically, and even emotionally. For me, I’ve realized that the reason we sometimes feel heavy or unmotivated on Mondays is either because we don’t like our job, or we’re simply not ready for the work waiting for us.
That’s why I believe the real key starts during the weekend. Preparation doesn’t only mean planning tasks, it also means taking care of yourself. Getting enough rest, sleeping well, and allowing your mind to slow down are all part of the process. Preparing your clothes in advance, eating good food, and having a bit of leisure time all help you feel lighter and more ready when Monday finally comes.
When we treat weekends as a time to reset instead of escape, the start of the week feels less like a burden and more like a fresh opportunity. We don’t always have control over how busy or stressful work can be, but we do have control over how we show up for it.
As Benjamin Franklin said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” I think this applies a lot to how we handle our week.
So if today you don’t feel your best, maybe take it as a reminder to care for your future self a little more next weekend. For now, let’s do our best with what we have.
I wish you all a productive and energized week ahead!
