Betrayed, deprived and abandoned

How is it to be rich? To have plenty of money, to do as you wish but also...to live behind bars?

Once upon a time there was a man who had luck.

He found the love of his life. With her it was as if he met Lady Fortune herself. They had a lot of fun, great dogs, loved, lived and even had great friends. He became successful at work and build a big house. A house nobody had in the little village they were living.

Most people in the village are poor.

They do what they usually do. They visit the supermarket daily to buy some bread. They meet and chat. Mostly about nothing, but at times about the rich. The ones they envy. The ones they do not interfere with any longer.

One night, as they were laying in bed

the police showed up. They literally jump through the window, broke the front- and backdoor. They came with many and surprised the couple in bed. The wife was dragged out of bed. The police was telling her they would put her in prison. There she was, laying naked on the bedroom floor. The husband panicked. He begged them to set his young wife free. He said he would do anything if they would do so.

He had to admit he had weapons, shot someone etc etc. They took him and he went to prison.

The young wife did stay in touch with him

for a while.

As the husband asked for his dogs, she said they run out of her. She became a boyfriend and he said he understood, since he would be in prison for a long, long time. He was happy she still was his best friend.

Each day he did hope she would visit him. Finally she said she would. He felt so happy. As she finally came over, it was only to let him sign for their divorce. She took the papers along with her.
After he did sign them, he still thought they would be friends forever, since with her he had the best time of his life. (He never heard or saw her again.)

After he spent the biggest part of his life in prison he finally was free. The world was changed, his world was. He never felt the same again.
Time passed by and Lady Fortune did never pay him a visit again. He decided to go back to the place he ones grew up. Where he lived, with his granddad, as he was still a little boy. He always felt home with Mother Nature nearby. He stepped into the swamp and finally felt happy and free

This story is based on the life story of my pen-pal, who is an inmate in the USA.
