Tasaline, Gem and Lian then set out.

With her fortune still ringing in her head; The coming choice will lead to a great consequence, Tasaline walked amongst her two friends, ready to talk to Lazy about the cause she wanted to help for their fundraising project.

When they got there, they rang the doorbell and waited. When Lazy opened up, she said “hi Tasaline, what’s good Lian?” then, to Tasaline, it seemed her smile got ironed out from the middle outward. “Hi Gem.”

“Can we come in? we have a question to ask you.” Tasaline stated. They all had come to ask Lazy what her needy cause was, true, but mainly it was cold outside and Tasaline had on a T-shirt.

“Come on in.” Lazy said, then stepped aside for the kids to make their way in.

Unlike Gem’s house where there’s a grand hallway, the front door to Lazy’s house led right into the living room. The TV was blasting some superhero show, and the room was fairly messy.

“So what was it that you guys wanted?”

Tasaline looked over at Gem, who looked back at her.

Now Tasaline was a bit annoyed. Gem was the one who was not giving Lazy’s Idea much of a chance, and she was also the one claiming to have the monetary funding for one. She should be the one to ask the question.

Tasaline coughed. “Gem? Don’t you want to say the question we have to ask Lazy?”

Gem rolled her eyes. “Fine.” she muttered and turned to Lazy. “remember at school when you said you had a cause to fund? The volleyball team?”

Lazy started to frown. “Yeah, what about it?”

“Well today we came to here it.” Gem said annoyed, but when Tasaline started to angrily stare a hole through her cheek she added, “and this time I won’t interrupt you.”

“Then why is Lian here?” was Lazy’s first response.

“Oh him? I don’t know. He just tagged along.” Gem gave an annoyed look to Lian, who just shrugged and said “I’m here to support whatever she just said.”
“Oh, well okay.” Lazy started to smile, but then became serious and focused back to Gem. “you’re seriously gonna listen?”

Gem nodded.

“Well,” Lazy started with. “The volleyball team is getting canceled. I have no idea why, though my dad told me last thursday it was happening, and then I overheard the teachers talking about it too. I think the school doesn't have enough money to keep up with all the sports teams. But why cut volleyball!? Can’t they take away soccer or something?”

“Hey!” Lian piped up. “Soccer is an amazing sport that should never even be in the question of being token away. It’s way better than volleyball, Lamey.” Lian, who personally played soccer, couldn’t even fathom losing it. To him, volleyball was way lamer!

“it’s Lazy! And volleyball is supreme!” Lazy said riled up.

“Okay-Okay enough! Gem and I don’t want to hear about your athletic disagreements.” Tasaline yelled over them. “We came to reach an agreement about something. Lazy, now that we’ve heard your cause, Gem can decide to say if she’s going to fund it or not.”

Lazy then smiled like an innocent little thing. “Well, what do you say?”

Gem’s eyebrows dropped. “I don’t know Lazy. I understand that losing the volleyball team must be awful for you. But I still don’t think that’s a worthy enough cause to waste my brother’s hard earned concert money on.”

Now Lazy was mad. “Seriously? Then what is a good enough cause for you? Do you even have any others?”

Tasaline felt stupid. Lazy had kind've explained all this at lunch a few days before. And even though Gem hadn’t interrupted her this time, she still felt the same way about Lazy’s volleyball team saving idea.

did I do all this for nothing? thought Tasaline. Why did I think that them talking it out like babies on a four-year-old tv show was gonna change anyone's mind?

Even if Gem thought the volleyball team wasn’t fund worthy, she still though it was uncool that the whole thing was getting closed down now. How could the teachers close it down now without even trying to finish out the school year.

“Have you tried talking to the coach to see if you can save the team?” Gem suggested. “Or maybe the principle?”

“No.” Lazy answered. “Why would I? Like they’d listen to me.”

“They might.” said Tasaline all hopeful. Finally they were getting somewhere. “I think it’s worth a shot. We should ask them when we see them again on monday.”

“It is monday. It’s a teacher-work day. But you are right. We should ask them.” Lazy now felt hopeful. Maybe there was a chance to save the volleyball team. She didn’t care if she didn’t have a cause for her project if talking it out worked. She just wanted the volleyball team back.

“Wait, it’s Monday!?” Tasaline was flabbergasted.

“Yeah, how long have you been sleeping in?” said Lian with a smirk.

Technically, Tasaline had locked herself inside her room since friday afternoon so no one could tease her about her father going to jail for theft last week, and with her mom at a pre-trial on that at this very moment, Tasaline was hoping no one would bring up why she’d been nowhere to be found the whole weekend, especially not in front of Lian.

“She was too busy hiding in her room to keep track of time.” Gem joked while Tasaline winced. “But Lazy’s right, if we ask the teachers to keep the volleyball team running, we don’t even have to waste my brother’s hard earned money on the cause!” Gem pieced together happily. “Let's go over to the school and talk to coach Garcia.

“But we have no form of transportation, and it’s a teacher-work-day.” Tasaline told her friends.

“We can walk there. I see Tomeka and her siblings do it all the time. Plus, it’s probably best we’ve got no transportation…” Lazy said nervously.

“Why?” Tasaline asked, unsure of this idea.

“I’m not sure we’re supposed to be at the school on a Teacher-work-day.” Lazy lilted.

“Then why don’t we just wait till tomorrow?” Tasaline said. She didn’t think this idea was any good, and would probably get them into trouble.

“Because the volleyball team can’t wait until tomorrow.” Lazy said determinedly.

“And I needed a new uniform anyway. I can ask, coach Garcia today with you guys.” said Lian.

“And how are we going to doge trouble!?” Tasaline had to ask.

“Easy, just doge it.” Lazy said plainly.

This is the type of talk that made Tasaline livid, But saying so would only make her friends do that more.

Gem must have seen The uneasy look on Tasaline’s face because she said “don't worry Tasaline, I'm sure they're not going to get us in trouble just because we walked into school on a teacher-work-day.”

Tasaline felt a little bit better About going to the school after Gem’s comment, but if felt like her bravery flushed away when she asked, “so are we really doin’ this?”

Lian and Lazy nodded their heads, and Gem said, “sure.”

So for Tasaline’s third destination that day, she was walking to the school to ask couch Garcia why the volleyball team was being canceled and how could they save it. Lazy thought there was safety in numbers, and Tasaline and the others thought the same for both getting answers and not getting in trouble.

Even so, Tasaline still thought it best to talk to her best friend Jessaline about all this.

1:59 p.m., Tasaline: so. Tryna’ help Lazy with saving volleyball team, but involves sneaking into school during TWD (teacher-work-day) any way around it?

2:00 p.m., Jessaline: way around what? Going to the school? Can’t you just go Tuesday?

2:01 p.m., Tasaline: That's what I told everyone! But they said now is better!... just tryna’ not get in trouble :-(

2:03 p.m., Jessaline: Tass, you can’t always worry about getting in trouble. Sometimes U have to take a risk for a great outcome. Plus, didn’t U want a more interesting life? Well going to school on a TWD is pretty interesting! :-) :-).

They were approaching the school. Tasaline put her phone away and looked at the quiet, empty school campus.

Lian was the first to put the schools looks into verbal description. “Huh. the school actually looks abandoned without kids around. I like it better this way, like a haunted house.”

“LET’S SAVE THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM!!” Lazy yelled with all her might ase she did cartwheel in the middle of the street leading to the school.

Tasaline’s heart skipped a beat at Lazy’s loud outburst. “Lazy! Not so loud!” though Tasaline knew what she had signed up for, she still wanted to avoid trouble if she could.

When Lazy made it to the door, she waited for the other to catch up.

“You try the door.” said Lazy pushing Lian to the front of them all.

“Woah-woah hang on.” said Lian who wouldn’t let himself be pushed.

Sensing trouble starting amongst them, Tasaline put on a brave face and puffed out her chest. “I’ll see if it’s locked.” the minute she pulled on the door it opened willingly, surprising her so badly she let it go. But she refused to tell the others she was jumpy. “It’s unlocked,” she said bravely.

“Cool. let’s go in, it's cold out here.” seeing it was safe to open the door, Lian opened the door for all the rest of the gang to go in like a gentleman, and then went in himself, letting go of the door behind him.

This time the door made a creak and a loud tap noise before closing.
