Another timeline: The champion warrior

You think back to those days with disdain. Clan Murlocs, pirates, the lost city…and then the Lich King. Even as a champion of your race, you were not powerful enough to stop the Lich King and his undead Scourge. You were able to flee to a deserted continent with a few other warriors, but you were too late. By the time you arrived, the Lich King had raised an army of undead warriors and had conquered your homeland.

The undead warriors pursued you and murdered your friends. Finally, you were the only one left. You ran without end and without rest.

I remember it like it was yesterday. We were only twenty when we crossed into foreign lands and gained allies. We were only sixteen when your father died in battle against the Scourge.

We left him to die at the hands of the enemy and eventually there was only you.

You killed every being that stood in your way, fighting your way across the continent to freedom.

I remember it like it was yesterday. We had just cannibalized our next victim. The sun was setting and we knew it was time to leave the woods and return home.

Do you know how hard it is to find fresh meat here? It must be getting harder, because I haven't hunted for such a long time. I wonder if the blight is getting worse or if I've been out of the game for so long that I'm getting soft.

You came crashing out of the woods, cutting down two undead warriors as we watched from the bushes.

What are you doing here?! Your body is completely frozen!

I came from the wilderness. I fought my way free of their undead grasp and now I'm prepared to finish this.

You faced the remaining undead warriors and prepared for battle. We had already done most of the work. The fire pit was lit and the huts were set up. Soon, we would feast on our enemy. That night ended with a glorious victory for the undead.

Just then, the Scourge arrived, encircling the camp. You stood in defiance, fighting the undead warriors with a single uselessly frozen hand, using the bludgeon on your left arm. The Scourge surrounded you and the night ended in a cold and violent glow. I remember the swords tearing into your body. It was not until the next day that we saw you rise, completely completely frozen. You were no longer a man; you were a statue of ice.

We were both frozen in time. You on the other hand, waited patiently for your eventual resurrection by the Lich King. You were relocated to another continent and left to rot. It was only recently that the Lich King deemed you worthy of a second chance. You were re-animated by his magic and brought to life.

You were returned to your homeland and were given the task to find your allies again. You were given a weapon, armor and gold to secure a boat. I was able to forge you this blade.

You had no way of knowing where to even begin your search. You wandered from ally to ally, from village to village, from soldier to soldier. The soldiers had no idea who you were, the allies had either fled the continent or had long since been killed by the scourge. The only being to recognize you was the Lich King himself. He provided you with an undead champion, a wizard named Kel'Thuzad.

The Lich King explained that you would need Kel'Thuzad's magic to locate your allies. At first, you questioned how you were going to survive - after all, you were little more than a headless undead warrior with a shield and a bludgeon. You trained under Kel'Thuzad's guidance, battling skeletons and learning the art of necromancy.

We trained and trained and trained. Despite our differences of opinion, we eventually grew up and we thought it was right to venture back into the world.

We moved west towards the mountains of Alterac. Fighting skeletons and Kel'Thuzad's minions, we made it to the border. From there, we made it to Strahnbrad, where we gathered our forces. You stood guard over our camp as Kel'Thuzad went out to gather information. Your job was to ensure that no Scourge would get past our perimeter.

We stopped each and every creature that came our way. The Scourge did not know of the camp, but we were intent on destroying them.

We had placed you in the center of a circle at night. We were all tired and weak, so I couldn't help you fight. I was knocking on death's door, dust going into my mouth.

You fought all night. You fought all day. Those undead who made it past your circle were destroyed and you stood vigil, guarding us all.

Kel'Thuzad returned at the mid-day. He spoke, 'The Lich King reports that he has allies - undead and living, from the south. They are fighting in this very square. All units are to converge on the Cathedral of Light immediately!'

You wanted to rest, you were tired. Your bones ached and your legs were aching.

Your allies were coming. Kel'Thuzad did not mention anything about the undead.

The undead horde arrived. You were struck to the ground with a bolt of energy from their mages. You lost consciousness.

You found yourself in the middle of undead, fighting for your life. You fought on, the dark magic tore at you weak body, your grip on your weapon slackened. You were dying. You were weak and unable to keep the undead at bay. You could feel their cold reach into your body.

You were barely conscious when you felt something strike your body. It was a cold, but familiar touch. You awoke as if from a deep sleep, your fingers on your sword were shaking.

You were surrounded by Kel'Thuzad, who was comforting you. You heard a voice call to you from the doors of the cathedral. You followed his voice and he led you in. The Lich King stood before you, His hands outstretched towards you. You collapsed in His arms, overcome by exhaustion.
