You Only Live Once, YOLO

in #writing2 years ago

Hello Learners,

One moment of clarity can change your life for the better. But as much as we like to believe that, for most of us, life doesn’t always work out that way. So how can you make the most of this one precious chance? Achieving a new perspective on things is easier said than done. Because let’s be honest: When you're feeling down and out, it can sometimes feel easier to stick with what you know. And when things are going well for you, it can be easy to forget about all the other people in the world who don’t have everything they want either.

And remember: You only live once. So take advantage of it.

Life is a precious thing. And while you might not be able to make all the changes you want to in the time you’ve got, you can choose to make the most of the moments you’ve left. You can decide to make the most of the people you know, and the opportunities that are in front of you. You can decide to make the most of the moments that you’ve got left. Life is full of ups and downs. So no matter how bad things might seem, don’t forget that it will probably get better. And even if it doesn’t, it will always get better. Life is a big, beautiful thing. So make the most of it while you’ve got the chance.

Make a list

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you’re in a rut—especially when you’ve got other problems on your plate. But if you can just take a step back, you might be able to see what you’re doing wrong. That’s why it can be so helpful to make a list of everything you’d like to change. For example, you might want to take a look at your diet. You might be eating the wrong things or not eating enough to fuel your body properly. Or you might want to work on your social life. You might want to meet new people or find new ways to spend more time with your existing ones. As you make this list, keep in mind that you don’t have to solve everything in one go. It’s okay if you don’t have the perfect plan yet. That’s the beauty of lists: They don’t have to be set in stone. You can add to them, change them, and delete them as you go along.

Ask yourself why?

Not everything you do will be helpful. And not everything you do will be fun. So why are you doing it? Why do you want to change? Too many people have a list of “shoulds” but no plans for how to make those things happen. They tell themselves that they should start a new hobby, go to the gym more often, or spend more time with their family. But when it comes down to it, they don’t know what to do next. So why don’t you start with one of those “shoulds”? Maybe you want to get healthier. Maybe you want to find a new job or find a new career. Maybe you want to make more friends learn to drive a stick shift or travel to a new country. Whatever your goal is, why don’t you start by asking yourself what you want to achieve with it? And then, once you’ve got a better idea of where you’re trying to get to, you can use that as a guide as you work out what you need to do next.
