I bet your parents never told you the rest, did they? What i am trying to say here, is that sometimes it's good to be curious, it's good to be interested in the world and in people and to know everything there is to know about your interests.
Another one of the phrases that in time got chopped is "blood is ticker than water", referring most of the times to family bonds and how family it's more important than anything, which is not the case for everyone.

I personally really like this one, because it tells me it's ok not to be perfect all the time and it's ok to not know everything about something...there is always time to learn more.
