Dear Millennials,

in #writing9 years ago (edited)

Apparently, the special snowflakes among you think that you have the right to not be offended. Or think that you have the right to safe spaces. Well I hate to burst your bubble, but that’s one of the gayest thing’s I’ve ever heard. No, not happy gay. Not homosexual gay. Gay, as in stupid gay.

You may as well now purge the notion of safe spaces from your brains completely before you get out of college. You see, what will end up happening is that you won’t be able to function in society. The thing is, all of the gears and levers that your mothers and fathers were pulling to keep the machines running. There is a prerequisite to those jobs that requires a certain level of tolerance that you simply don’t have. More specifically, it’s a tolerance to free speech.

I’m from the X-Generation, back when I went to school there was a common understanding of the word racism, and everyone knew that it was synonymous with bigotry. And although there was some bigotry, it for the most part ironed itself out. People grew up, and those who were bigoted largely grew out of it and learned how to function in society.

Yet with your programming, you’re likely to be hopping around from one job to the next perpetually butthurt, because for the last eight years you’ve been in college you’ve been abusing terms like racism, sexism, and misogynist. You’re going to see everyone as an enemy, and you’re going to want to purge them from your work environment.

Some of you will succeed in ejecting very qualified and good workers out of the workplace and you will lose out on their very valuable experience and ability to show you the ropes, or how to do the job the right way, and how to be successful. In your success in ostracizing everyone you come into contact with who is not a millennial, you will fail because you will not learn how to pull the gears and levers. You’ll have to rely upon your substandard education which as distracted you into an oblivion.

It’s sad that I have to talk about the good old days, days when someone was offensive, all you simply had to do was retort with a big old fuck you, and for the most part, people would agree to disagree and keep walking their separate ways.

Yet if the special snowflake variety of millennial gets offended, they either turn into a shrieking and obnoxious ghoul. Or try and disingenuously gaslight a person into apologizing for this or that fabricated microaggression. Well, I’m here to say that the world is going to collectively give you a swift kick in the ass, in one way shape or form if you don’t grow up sooner, rather than later.

The sad truth is most of your college education that cost 10’s of thousands that you borrowed was bullshit. You may have done better surfing the internet instead. At least you could have learned something. Now I know that not all millennials are special snowflakes, this article is mostly a chiding for the special snowflakes of the millennial generation which spawned them.

Also, If you plan on getting a B.(ull) S.(hit) degree in "Social Justice Studies", please just go ahead and pick up your smart phone and chase a Pikachu off a cliff.

If you read this letter and enjoyed it, please write a “Dear Millennials” letter and give them the verbal thrashing that they deserve. This was the best I could come up with today, I know you can do better! Post the link to your letter below. Someone has to save these people from themselves.

Since my letter is short I'll just post it in your comments: "Dear Millennials, the concept of happy chic entrepreneurs thriving in open-concept offices with no dress code, free vegan snacks and make-your-own-hours workdays is pure bullshit. LOL. From, Real Life." (If I come up with a longer letter I shall link it as asked)

Nice one saiku!

I am thinking that along with the safe space offended thinking, is a social safety net called entitlements, so as you can see it all goes hand in hoof. So we need to ask why are these young folks being spayed and neutered?
