Already a welder, I just don't have one currently.
Dremel I have, 3D printer I have (small form).
Eventually will get a lathe and CNC going but they aren't in the budget till later this year or next year
Parts up here are expensive and harder to come by. I am envious of the americans access to things like barrels and receivers. If that airsoft reciever was a "real" one then it'd actually be banned in Canada. We aren't "allowed" to have "assault" weapons'.
And next up get into that wonderful five axis CNC machining.
That's the best part when you know how to turn a piece of metal into anything you want.
I was watching somebody cut rifling the other day with an acid solution.
It is only when you limit yourself do you actually truly become limited.
ECM rifling 4150 steel blanks or even rebar is totally feasible to create rifled barrels. 100%.
I'm working on developing a basically fully printable small form AR platform that people with sub $150 printers can use. I realize not everyone can afford the big boy filament printers so hope to effectively develop and share the information for poor boys like myself to join the armed anti-tyranny league as needed.

And that's the thing. Print stiffness into it. Yep inserts. Inserts to stiffen critical areas. Print them into the structure.

The small print AR platform is like half done.. I can do lowers on tiiiiiiiny printers.. Working on modelling the upper body in a 2 piece and the buffer tube as a 2 piece as well so those with small printers only need buy the Bolt carrier group and barrel (or make them)
