Government of Abkhazia to Intensify Identification of Crypto Mining Farms

Abkhazia, an autonomous district in northwest Georgia, is wanting to intensify the works on the distinguishing proof of cryptocurrency mining farms in the area.

As per a news release published on the Cabinet of Ministers' website on Dec. 12, Prime Minister of Abkhazia Valeri Bganba held a gathering devoted to the flow state of the district's power grids. The gathering saw the presence of representatives of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Economy, and the state electric utility Chernomorenergo RUE, among others.

Significantly increased loads on electric grids

During the gathering, some of the participants brought to see that the significantly increased loads on electric networks are bothered by the development of ever-more prominent number of unlawful cryptocurrency mining farms associated with Chernomorenergo. As of late, indicators have ostensibly surpassed the 40 Mwatt mark.

As such, Bganba gave the gathering participants the order to intensify the works on the distinguishing proof of cryptocurrency mining farms in the locale. Aside from that, Bganba requested that the administration start the improvement of an administrative system, which would empower deciding the confinement of vitality consumption for every consumer of Chernomorenergo's electric grids.

Abkhazia's previous efforts towards crypto mining

The Ministry of Economy of Abkhazia built up a law draft on the settlement of cryptocurrency mining activities in the nation, in late June. At the time, the Ministry said that the drafted bill had been affirmed and sent to the Cabinet of Ministers. The proposed guideline defines legitimate, monetary, authoritative and specialized rules for the execution of cryptocurrency mining activities in the district.

In addition, this summer, news broke that Abkhazia was intending to fabricate a huge cryptocurrency mining ranch. President Raul Khadjimba called attention to some difficulties in regards to the activity, and said that the district was "attempting to legitimize these processes so that they carry some income to the nation's spending limit." Khadjimba also brought up that Abkhazia previously hosted facilities unlawfully established by individuals.
