Awwwwwww that's heartbreaking about the jumper and beanie! I've washed hand knits in the machine before and they survived, but it probably depends on what type of yarn and how it was made. Maybe they just snagged on something else in the wash. Tragedy!

I was devastated, with so many months of pregnancy everything looked so much worse than it was. But lesson learned, I no longer wash anything that is hand woven in the washing machine, hahahaha
