Einem User wird vorgeworfen ein Newbie-Scammer-Netzwerk zu betreiben, und Geld von neuen Usern für die Account-Erstellung zu verlangen und dann in deren Namen zu posten und auch Dutzende Sock-Puppet Accounts zu betreiben.

Wenn das stimmt, ist das natürlich nicht in Ordnung.
Sowohl das Verlangen von Geld von neuen Usern als auch das Betreiben von Sock-Puppets widerspricht dem Gedanken von Hive, da damit die Community zum Zweck der persönlichen Bereicherung getäuscht wird und wir eigentlich neue User ohne Bezahlung onboarden möchten (außer eine kleine Creation-Fee gegen Spam).
Account-Tokens bekommen User mit circa 5K Hive-Power gratis und damit kann man neue Accounts erstellen. Ich habe dafür nie Geld verlangt und werde das auch nie tun, da es in unser aller Interesse ist, neue User onchain zu bringen.
Ich und viele andere Hiver machen die Community-Arbeit ehrenamtlich, ohne dafür Geld zu verlangen.
Ausnahme wäre aber, wenn man eine Consulting-Dienstleistung anbieten würde und sich über die Bezahlung im Vorhinein einigt. Dann wäre es ok.
Das war allerdings in der aktuellen Causa anscheinend nicht der Fall und es wurden angeblich sogar die Keys missbräuchlich verwendet, um etwas unter einem anderen Account zu posten und deren Rewards zu transferieren.

Wenn jemand für euch einen Account erstellt, dann ändert danach eure Keys und speichert diese an einem sicheren Ort, am besten mehrfach ab.
Da der Fall auch unsere Wiener Community betrifft, hoffe ich dass wir die Causa rasch aufklären können.
Jedenfalls ist diese Vorgangsweise, wenn sie stimmt, für mich nicht in Ordnung und ich werde mich von dem beteiligten Account distanzieren.

If true, this is obviously not okay.
Both asking for money from new Hivers and running sock puppets goes against the spirit of Hive in my opinion, as it deceives the community for the purpose of personal enrichment, and we actually want to onboard new users without asking for money (except a small creation fee to prevent spam).
Account tokens are given to users with about 5K Hive power for free and can be used to create new accounts. I have never charged for this and never will, as it is in all of our interest to bring new users onchain.
I and many other hivers do community work on a volunteer basis, without asking for money.
An exception would be to offer a paid consulting service and agree on payment in advance. Then that would be ok.
However, in the current case, this was apparently not the case and allegedly even the keys were misused to post something under another account and transfer their rewards.
Not your Keys, not your Cryptos.
If someone creates an account for you, then change your keys afterwards and save them in a safe place, preferably multiple times.
Since this case also concerns our community in Vienna, I hope that we will be able to clear up the matter quickly.
In any case, this scheme, if it is true, is not okay for me and I will distance myself from the account involved.

One would imagine that a hive meetup would be open to all: even to the individuals who are yet not registered on hive and would like to meet the community and learn more.
Sadly, I was told in the Vienna group that a new person is allowed to attend the hive meetup only after they register for a paid workshop. Unfortunately, the first impression for an outsider looks like the hive meetup is a closed community.
Any suggestions/ideas how to on-board a new person and introduce them to community without them taking a workshop?
Everyone can come to our meetups without paying, or booking any workshops. I think the best approach is indeed to come to the meetup and getting help from other hivers to create an account. For free. Offering mandatory workshops would be shady and is not the case to my knowledge. I think the paid workshops are a different thing outside the meetups, i'm not involved in.

This is not correct, the Vienna meetups are open to all, for free. There is also no owner of meetups, "meetup" is not a protected name. Anybody can create a meetup! This is blockchain, not web 2.0.-business!

I attended the Vienna Meetup first before I decided to join the Hive and nobody forced me to do anything or asked for money - on the contrary, I was even invited for a drink and received help from all sides to get started. I experience the meetups as really nice get-togethers and non-Hivians were also present at several of these meetings and welcome. So please no "I heard something" stories, thx.

Frechheit sowas das wirft nur unnötig schlechtes Licht auf Hive. Aber es ist wie so oft auch wo anderes es wird leider immer welche Geben sie versuchen ein System für ihren eigenen Vorteil zu missbrauchen.

Echt ätzend diese Scammer! Zeigt umso mehr wie wichtig Aufklärung und Web3 Bildung ist. Damit man besser vorbereitet ist.
The first thing is that we should not give keys to anyone because it happened to me once that I had three axies in my Ronin network and I accidentally sent several to one person and five minutes later He had washed my entire account. If we do come here to create an account for you and we ask someone to take money and create an account for us, then this method is also wrong because he can do fraud with us, but still if someone creates an account in this way. So first we have to change keys because whoever created the account will have our key.
I agree, that is bad for the community. We want to bring new people in but they shouldn't have to pay for it!

Not upvoting is a good start, maybe even downvoting in obvious cases. Hive watchers is also looking into the case. 75 accounts are potentially involved.

Solche Praktiken und Geschäftsmodelle (x Accounts erstellen und dann unter fremden Namen posten, um sich persönlich zu bereichern und Newbies zu scammen) haben auf Hive nichts verloren.
Wurde scheinbar trotzdem für eine lange Zeit von euren direkten Meetup Freunden so praktiziert.
Diese sehen nicht mal ein dass daran irgendwas falsch ist.
