I'm not defending the movie nor saying it's okay, I'm saying to throw any context out the window and instantly go for the "cancel netflix" clickbait bandwagon bullshit is attention whorey at best. What I'm saying is there's so much shit going on, that for one movie to be a bit extreme just to point out to the shit that's going on and try to make a change it doesn't matter much the little consequences of said movie. Will people watch it for the wrong reasons? sure, but they already are in so many other places that the positive impact the movie can have on change will surely outweigh the negative one.

People might think I have a reason to defend Netflix for this, it's more like I'm defending their right to defend this and I can see why they would if it helps bring more attention to the shit that's happening daily on platforms with 100x the users of Netflix.
How else could they point out the shit that's going on? I get a documentary would've been better but are parents going to watch that, are kids going to watch that and maybe think it over the shit they do for clout on tiktok, etc? Are they going to CGI the actors? Way to focus on the wrong things and try paint people for not following the herd.
Yes, CGI is a phenomenal idea. Cartoons are a good way of exploring topics without actually engaging in the very exploitation they're addressing.

Without this movie we wouldn't even be talking about everything else going on in the world where children don't even have a choice in the matter are being abused and exploited like beauty pageants. Why not focus on that? I haven't watched the movie so I'm not certain on the message, maybe it helps parents make better decisions, maybe it doesn't. Maybe the people who made the movie had the wrong intentions, maybe they didn't. Do you honestly think that netflix would agree to this if and defend it if they thought it had more of a negative impact than a positive one? Maybe someone there deserves to get fired and maybe these people who filmed this movie are "sick fucks", but maybe we should focus on what can be done to decrease child exploitation that isn't in everyone's face but is still happening to this day and increasing in traffic. I read recently some guy who got busted with two digit terabytes of child porn, imagine the sheer amount of that and what else there might exist on the internet with 99% never getting caught and the effects it has on the children. Now obviously that's a different issue compared to this but there's still a very growing problem and concern of what is going on in social media. Take a look at r/creepydms, there's submissions daily of random creeps dm'ing children with sexual intentions and I bet only a small percentage of them speak up and only a small percentage of the adults are dumb enough to attempt that while most hide in the shadows or behind a lot of money and protection. Maybe we should boycott hollywood and the dark web while at it instead of focusing all our attention at netflix this one time and ignore the rest.
