Nomad Sculpting

I've been messing around with Nomad Sculpt on the iPad the last few days. It's a neat little program for making 3d sculptures. It runs incredibly smooth compared to a few others I've tried and has quite a few features.

Here's my first model of Yoda.

There are many features in this app that are top-notch considering it's all done on an iPad. The lighting, painting, and the ability to combine meshes and re-mesh easily are, so far, my favorite. I've also looked at some videos about tubes and scene management that I haven't really played around with yet, but I'll certainly be getting into soon.

Here's my second little modeled wizard head, strictly from the imagination.

I mainly started messing around with this to come up with some models to 3d print. I like how some of the models look on certain 3d printing websites, but I'd like to take the time to make my own instead of printing other people's work. Starting with rough "sketches" from the iPad might be a good way to get some ideas down and then I can transfer them to the computer to refine them with more powerful programs and set them up for printing.

I did try this using blender back when I first got my 3d printer using Blender, but I don't like the idea of sitting at the computer for hours on end when I can relax a little better in different locations and do the same thing with this program. I would eventually need to bring it into Blender to pose and adjust like the one below.

I think I'll still need to play around with the program a bit before I start venturing into that, though.

One thing that's sort of been bothering me about my iPad the last while is I've been having a problem with the touch screen. I'm not sure if it's the texture of my fingers because they are all callused from working and playing guitar, but it's constantly cutting in and out while I use it. The Apple Pencil responds perfectly so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the screen itself. I've tried the usual troubleshooting of making sure the screen is clean and changing a few settings, but it keeps persisting. I noticed there are others having these issues online so maybe I'll have to contact Apple and see what they say, as that's what I'm reading most did. I was also thinking it was the apps I was using as it seems to happen most in the higher-end ones that use a lot of memory, but it's also happening while I scroll through Hive posts now, so I'm not sure that's the case either.

Maybe it's Apple fucking with me and trying to get me to buy a newer model, as this one is now 5 years old. I was thinking about getting one of those tablet/laptop combos for my next one, but I'd be missing on Procreate and the Affinity programs that are only available on iPad so I'm not ready to do that yet. I also wouldn't want to get another iPad if it's just going to shit the bed in 5 years despite being well taken care of.

I'll be leaving some affiliate links at the bottom of my posts from now on. I've so far added 6 but I'll probably keep the list going as I remember them. No sense in having all these that can potentially earn me more cryptocurrency and not displaying them for people to discover and use for themselves. It could be a win-win situation if you see something you weren't aware of. All of these are services that I use and am satisfied with so feel free to check them out.

I didn't know there was a 3d sculpting tool on the iPad. I might save up and get myself Nomad Sculpt. I prefer using my iPad to computers simply for the portability. I definitely relate to not wanting to be on the computer stuck at one place all day. My stepdaughter use to make fun of me using the iPad and Apple pencil to make art, but since she moved in here, she realised how convenient it has been.

Hello,
You're very talented with 3D design work, I'm learning basics with Tinkercad and Fusion 360 for 3D printing, but what you're doing here is next level, very impressive.

Sounds like Ipad has some nice tools for design work, I'm primarily an Android user and was not aware of Apple having cutting edge design apps like this.

I will give you a follow because I'm intrigued by your talent and want to see more. Thank you for sharing!
