The State of the @NoNamesLeftToUse Address: I've Produced Over 200 New Works Of Art This Year — Probably Published Over One Million Words

in #art6 years ago

I thought of dumping all 200 here for you to look at; decided against that.
I didn't actually count the words; it feels like a lot.

Here we are again.

It's already been over a month since I last put it all together like this.

Some of you may remember when I took a break.  You remember me being gone.

Strange how something like that can leave a mark.  I needed the rest.  I've been back for nearly two months, grinding away.  Did you notice that part?  I hope so.

I was gone for one and a half months.  Before I took a break on the first of August, I had been busy publishing new art and words daily since December 9, 2017.  Rarely missed a day aside from a week off.

Do I work too much?

Probably.

This past month I didn't pick up the virtual paintbrush as much as I thought I would, yet I still managed to produce another twenty-six images and works of art (I don't include many of the corny thumbnail/cover images I produce, which also take time).

Nope, didn't paint as much, but I did manage to churn out some good write-ups lately.  Some humorous, some serious.

It's difficult to find a balance when I want to share more than one thing I'm good at on this blog; I bounce around a lot. It's good to keep everyone on their toes here though.  Many of you who've been following me for two years still don't know what to expect when you visit this place of mine.  I guess you can expect the unexpected; I doubt that will ever change.  I think I'm too much of a nut to settle down;it's best I just embrace it.

Future plans and goals.

I'm not worried.

Short term goals include simple things.  I'd like to reach reputation 72 and 25000 SP before the end of the year.  Organically, of course.  I don't need training wheels.

Long term?  I don't like to predict my future, but I do have plans for it.

Many talk about how nice it would it be if our content could earn past seven days.  I'm not limited to the short lifespan of our work on this platform.  With over two hundred works of art produced this year alone, plus a couple hundred more from the previous year, I'm setting myself up to be able to make a decent income in the future.  When I don't have to concentrate on producing new stuff all day, I'll be able to focus on printing, selling and distribution.

I've also managed to write enough short stories and humor to fill a couple of books, and I'll be able to throw some of the art in those as well.

I didn't come here to farm tokens.  I came here to start building a future doing something I enjoy doing.  I'll be fine.

Does not having a chance to be on the front page still bother me?

Sometimes.

So I made my own trending page with #Actual-Content.

Yes.

I know...

Hilarious!

Anyway.  Here's the art from the past month.  Enjoy.

I'll end it today with a thank you.  I don't ask for much around here but you give me a lot anyway.  The other day I published a humorous post about being angry and then played along with it in the comment section:

Screenshot (496).png

150 comments total.  The was the second most out of all the posts on the entire platform that day.  Thanks for always showing up and having fun with me.  You're all just as much a part of my blog as I am.  Thanks again.

Have a nice day.

Is it okay if I use the "actual-content" tag? That's pretty clever.

I don't really care who uses it, as long as it's actual content.

You're one of the most consistent artists/ workers on this platform I have come to love and use daily.

You are among the few I feel the urge to physically(virtually) visit the blog from time to time.. well worth it!

Cheers on your hard work. Persistence pays off!

Got some interesting pieces.. I ponder the thoughts.

I am relatively new to your blog but am enjoying it given its uniqueness. Have you considered using the blockchain to tokenize your art? I think it could be a great project to experiment with! @steemmonsters have done basically that with the cards for their game. I provides something you can gift, sell or buy around the blockchain... Given your talent and passion is seems like something worth exploring.

I think I might actually have a better idea. I'll keep it all to myself though.

my favourite is 'the arrogance of some people' pic. not sure why maybe it reminds me of something or maybe it's just fricken cool. don't know

I like the simplicity of that one, and I agree, it's pretty cool.

Your last two are my favorites. I'm fond of the orange boobs one too.

I like all three of those as well. I never did get a chance to respond to the boobs comment from the original post, but you're totally right and to be honest, I didn't even notice.

I force my female thoughts onto your art :)

There's more than one boobs painting in my house, so I guess I'm primed to see more.

"I'd like to reach reputation 72 and 25000 SP before the end of the year."

That seems doable at the rate that you post. I have been slacking off lately but I would like to get to 60 and 500 sp in about that same time frame (I want my damn slider for my vote power).

"Make coffee or go to sleep?" You could always make decaf and do both.

I ended up making coffee, staying up more, then crashing and burning. Decaf is just a waste of water.

Haha Yeah I never really drink that stuff either. Coffee is kind of supposed to be a drug so there is no point of taking all the drugy goodness out of it.

I'm just here for the snark, wit and irony! :)

It's been a fun ride... Feels like something is winding, but I am not sure if it is the wind-up or the wind-down, or ?

Maybe it's just gas.

It's so damn hard to be in that zone, constantly. That there says more than it should.

Yeah, it is! I'm getting tired. :)

I'm wiped. Seems super quiet here today. I think it's time to shut the laptop off. I don't do that enough these days after promising myself when I got back from break that I wouldn't kill myself doing this anymore.

I like "Something So Simple (It's a Monkey!)" but I'm a huge black and white junkie, so I might be biased.

I'm not an active engager with your content but I read your post a few days ago that made me feel shit for not leaving a comment from time to time. Somehow I feel I'm always reading your blogs when I'm actually just scrolling through the feed one last time before going to sleep (I hate typing on my phone). But here I am. Just saying hi and congratz on all the artwork <3

Something So Simple was a fun piece. It led to a lot of corny humor as well. That one inspired a total of three fairly decent posts in a row. Good times.

Black and white is fun, I need to do more.

I hope whatever I said that made you feel like shit wasn't mean or something. I'm certainly not trying to hurt anyone's feelings here, even though I know I can be a bit of a handful at times.

Thanks for stopping in and saying hi. I know a lot of people stop in and quietly browse around. It's all good.

Yes, do more black & white <3

No, you didn't make me feel shitty by being mean. It was just the post of about 3 days ago, the emptiness of Steem... The upvotes but the lacking of comments, engagement. It's a constant nagging feeling I have too - I do get 'supported' but sometimes the best moment of the day is that one comment that makes you think or smile.

I should leave more comments. Always.

You give new meaning to a wild and crazy guy, thank you.

I'm just happy I don't have to keep all this inside of my head. Thank you.

lol, I was wondering what you were up to with actual-content! Nicely played.

Many talk about how nice it would it be if our content could earn past seven days.

I'm aware of one workaround called Steem Forever that is supposed to work by letting you leave comments on posts older than 7 days, then upvote the comments. I don't remember where I heard about this and I'm not sure if it works or not.

Man... I just post. There are a million and two tricks here. Once in awhile, I'll take one of my oldest solid posts, reformat it, make it look spiffy, fix old screw ups, produce a new cover, re-post. So much of my work most here today haven't even seen. As long as we're not being spammy about it, nobody seems to mind.

I think I agree with you re: the tricks. I come across various tricks here that seem worthwhile, so I try them out for a while, but invariably I find them lacking.

E.g., the delegation experiment I was recently experimenting with. I ended up undelegating most of it because I didn't like the terms, and so most of my SP should be back and available for me to use in a few days.

The more I look into Steem tricks, the more I'm thinking that the only way Steemit will survive at all is if it finds a way to prioritize organic content/curation over paid content/automation. You know this, of course. You've written about it plenty.

All that being said - I do think that the inability to earn on content past 7 days is a serious flaw in the Steemit platform. I don't believe that a content creator should have to think in terms of a 7-day window when it comes to collecting profit. Passive income should be a thing here, without having to delegate SP to accounts that accept bid buys. Something I wrote a year ago should still be available for rewards today, and tomorrow, and always.

I got used to the 7 day window when I compared this model to television. Those folks have one episode per week. Sink or swim. Not many more chances to earn from that episode until physical or digital copies are sold, or reruns. I would prefer a longer window but at the same time, I'm not sure many look at the old stuff aside from outside eyes that can't interact unless they sign up.

And yes, I've been yelling at the clouds for about a year and it sucks I was right and things only got worse.

Well, television has different earning models, doesn't it? So for example a network buys 10 episodes of a show and says Go, and the actors and showrunners et al get paid for all 10 episodes. So maybe they sink one week and swim the next, it doesn't matter, they still get paid according to their 10-week contract.

I guess the issue with that model is that, well, the actors/showrunners might get fired after 10 weeks if the network doesn't feel like the show was worth the investment, whereas here on Steemit you can just keep plugging away forever.

I get why Steemit has the 7 day window in place to delay rewards payout, but I just can't help but wonder if there's opportunity to implement a system for rewarding creators outside that window, too.

Ah, the actual content yeah has its use!!!

Now I can say cocky things like, "I am the creator of actual content." It's true though.

It's most definitely true!!

"Please vote for actual content." That's a good one.

Lol, yes indeed. If only it were what happened!
