In today's time do you think marriage or living together is better?
In the beginning my husband and I lived together. Today it seems more common place. Many people today when they get older divorce for tax advantages. I am curious what fellow Steemians think.
What do you think is best?
- Marriage is best.
- Living together is best.
- If children are involved you must marry.

We lived together for about six months before we married; I wouldn't change that fact.
No kids together; late life marriage, but still... living together I think helped us in the long run.
I don't blame you. We lived together a year. No kids here either. We were young when we got married. Just got in 33 years.
We lived together for about 5 years. We got married (12-12-12 - how do you like that!) and it was mainly because of financial reasons (income tax, insurance, jointly owned property) not because we needed the security of a marriage license. It was my second marriage (after 28 years the first time) and his first marriage, and being this late in life, no childred. My son had two children with a live in partner, they never married, and have now split up.

I was going to say that to you. I miss everyone. I saw @michelle.gent was back not long ago. She was the one helping us with our writing. Back when I was posting. I think it was a continuing story about an orb. Since I had that photo I took of one.

I voted that marriage is best - although it completely depends on the individuals. Marriage creates an explicit family structure. I think the dissolution of the family has prompted most of the issues we have in the US today, so a return to making that sort of public commitment is important to me.
That being said - I don't believe a person should have to ask the State for permission to make that kind of commitment. So take my vote with a grain of salt for lack of more specific options. :-D

Nope, I am addicted to it now.. I plan to do a follow-up post with results..so fun..
What I did is go to the link for the poll and created it.. easy to figure out..then went to steemit to insert the image.

We lived together with my boyfriend for 2 years, and then decided to get married. I think people should get to know each other before they get married.

People divorce for tax advantages?? What???
All of the above must be evaluated with your current life situation. For example, my husband and I. I told him what I wanted in life. I told him if we were to have children, that we live in a house and get married for I do not want a relationship that screws around. I wanted something solid and serious. Marriage is a serious thing and not to be played with. So are children. I wanted to make sure that the person is just as serious about it and that love is above all. To take commitment to all that is to set it in stone. In the manner of marriage. To completely give myself to that person and vice versa.
And to find out if that is something that can be accomplished, living with that person is a must first. As that is how we learn about the significant other. We also learn if we are able to live with each other. Can we stand each other and continue to love with all the flaws included? Or can we not be able to forgive and thus not being able to move on. If not, then move out before committing to marriage and children.
Always a complicated thing.

You know, this is such a conundrum. My first husband and I lived together and then divorced. The Husband and I lived together and married 17 years ago this year. I do think that living together is a good idea, but having said I would never marry again, there is much to recommend it. From a cultural point of view and, in this country, from a legal perspective. No tax issues in this country. So from that perspective, I can't make a single choice for your vote. I can just complicate it for you, @rebeccabe......

In the modern world, there are no rules, every couple can be happy in any form. But, to make a woman happy and content, satisfied, better marry her...

Still "marriage is best" .We've been living together with my wife for over a year, and when my son is born, we decided to get married, i think it is for the best interest of the child.
