The News
It is good to see $HIVE show a small improvement this week and to open up some clear air over the legacy crapcoin. That gap needs to widen as we know that the Hive platform has much more value.
You will probably have noticed that rewards are not including $HBD recently and this is due to the low price. Some people are saying that we really need to tighten our belts as we are still paying a lot to proposals and that is paid in $HBD. Some projects have lowered what they request, but it is still a fair amount every day. If you do not know, proposals can be created to request funds for any purpose, but the community gets to decide if they are granted with their votes that are based on what HP you hold (not including delegations). There is a voting cut-off that is set by the Return Proposal (on peak and ecency). Anything getting less votes that that will not be paid so you can help to raise the threshold. This a personal choice and you can still support other proposals.
Friday Follows
- @risingstargame has been running for six years. There are about 500 regular players, but anyone can start for free. That is small, but they are dedicated and @jux keeps on developing. You will not get rich from playing, but it can be fun and you can support some musicians there by buying music NFTs.
- I try to compile some news each week, but I will miss a lot. You can follow @hivetoday for more. I expect that there may be others doing similar things.
- The @snapie team is always busy. They just released some updates that include audio rooms.
- @sanderjansenart has been posting his surreal digital art on Hive for years. The latest cat is quite freaky.
- @demotruk has done more analysis on how people join Hive and what makes them stick around. The post has some nice history on how onboarding has changed in the last ten years. A key factor for retaining new users is to show them some support.
The Dog House
We will always get people trying to exploit Hive for little effort. We want everyone to have a chance to earn, but it has to be done fairly. It ought to be from creating engaging content that others want to support, but some will just churn out junk in hope of votes and give nothing back. @friendlymoose has highlighted one such group who seem to funnel out their rewards through a common account.
If and when the price goes up we are likely to see more of this behaviour so we need to be vigilant. We cannot stop people from posting, but Hive has various defences against abuse. You should report any you see.
The End
My focus remains on positivity. I still see great potential in Hive and the current development activity is great to see. There should be something here for everyone. I really do not have the influence that some imagine, but each of us can play a part here. You can build communities to make it fun for yourself and others.

Around 30 non-Hiveans have confirmed their attendance. I guess at least half of them won't really show up, but still :)
Everyone should be voting the return proposal and then the proposals that they hope to see rise above it.
That would be the ideal, but I expect a lot of people don't vote at all.

$HBD is supposed to be back by $HIVE so they have to be kept balanced.
