It would be easy to let your guard down; to fall into the trap of trusting strangers to live their own lives, make their own decisions, seek their own bliss; based on their own knowledge of their own priorities and circumstances.

They can't even tell the difference between a beer brand and a virus. They lack the most basic skills required to live happy, safe lives, and this is definitely true of many, many strangers. They're so fortunate you're here, educating yourself; so you can make wise decisions on their behalf.
Can you imagine how terrible things would be without massive regulatory and police agencies constantly keeping this kind of chaos at bay? I shudder to think. It's everywhere.

It was one of the first things I said to a friend when we were traveling back from the Netherlands to Germany. I noticed how not only the news about the virus but also every other sign I saw at the highway seemed to be trying to convince me how any other human is a danger to my life and health.
