Life in our heads
words said again and again,
stick
damage comes
you believe
it is something you have done
the speck of light
shines brightly behind
the broken bones
it gives you courage
when darkness lives
it is the tiny voice
heard at night
easy to dismiss
while tears stream
down your face.
the trigger pulled
when you least expect
do or die becomes your moto
little do you know
it only takes one step
to start the healing beginning
once the step is taken
a host of angles can now
untie their wings
help where they can
If you follow the signs
and let them in.
Help someone smile today. It can not hurt you.

This was poignant... but that little glimmer of light is all it takes... and then when we see it... we all need to take that first step. It's in taking the step that we finally acknowledge the need to value ourselves. In doing so we change things and realise finally that we can and will overcome.
