Work in progress with comic book project

Hi, guys!

Another day - another baby step in getting closer to my goal. Actually I was working yesterday all day long as well, but had other material to post, so everything I did yesterday for my new project I will share today, here in this post.

11:15

Morning coffee and fixing my plan. Every day I learn something new about creating comic books, and of course I made a plan from the very beginning, but with learning new material corrections are required. So - fixing my plan first. I didn't expect everything to be easy, but I'm a bit shocked with the amount of work I will have to do even before I'll start drawing. I need to fix all my blogs, from YouTube to Patreon in order to make them suitable for working with my project. As you know I already uploaded a test video on YouTube, but I'm not happy with it, it needs work.

I also decided that I will film with GoPro camera, seems like it's the best solution, but I need to find a way to fix it exactly where I need it, and at the moment I'm still looking for options.

Since I need to fix all my blogs I started with creating an avatar for them all, single avatar for them all, so it could be more recognizable. I'm making a comic book based on DnD, so I decided that a d20 dice is the best option. Here I can show you how it looked as a full art, and how I made it more simple to use as an avatar.

That's how promo art looks

And that's how I made it more simple to use as an avatar for my blogs. By the way I need to change it here on Hive as well.

QUESTION: Guys, can please someone let me know in the comments below what size in pixels is the cover image for hive blog?

Next thing that needs to be done is the cover image, and it's more complicated cause for each blog it needs to be in different size. Plus I need a banner here on hive, and it's other size again. And I need to make it clickable, and yet I have no idea how people do it. So, I think today I will focus on drawing dice for Patreon tiers and drawing first sketches for covers.

P.S. Look, how cute this little dude looks on a subscription bar!

Let's get started and create dice for tiers on Patreon. Today I managed to make bases for them all and choose coloring. At the moment they look pretty boring, I yet have to decide how exactly I want to customize them. One more thing - I still need to decide what tiers I want to have and what I will provide for them. Result by now, before customization:

I promised myself to work a bit with cover images as well, and at the moment the best option I see for it is to create concept portraits of the main heroes. OMG, six of them in the very beginning of the story, DnD full party! I doubt that today I will be able to create so fat that it could be published, so I will post sketches tomorrow.

See you in the next post!

Love, Inber

I do like the prettier dice image though I can see why you could have simplified it down for an avatar.

The cover image div on peakd says its min-height is 240px, it's 155px in hive.blog, max width is 1000px. I just used the header I had for my Patreon when I had it (I ditched Patreon) and it looks fine on a small screen but awkward on a large one XD

Thank you so much for the cover size!🖤
I made it more simple in order to make it more clear to see (hope I made my point in English lol). Small image with lots of details causes "Hmmmm, what's that?":)

And why did you quit Patreon?

Two major reasons.

  1. I didn't feel like I was making enough progress fast enough to be worth people supporting monthly (I appreciate people's support but when it's monthly like that I want it to be worthwhile)
  2. Patreon seemed to be deplatforming people if they disagreed with political leanings (and possibly just other things that they didn't like but I didn't investigate those). The people they were deplatforming were people whose politics I wouldn't agree with either but as far as I could tell they hadn't actually done anything that was against Patreon's ToS. I'm anti-censorship so even if my main point 1 hadn't been a problem I still would have bailed out.

Wow, never heard about politics on Patreon
