Hi !
Here I am again, Sunday morning again. Sipping coffee and eating yogurt.... again. I tried a new yogurt on a whim. It is Cabot Creamery Greek yogurt, triple cream vanilla bean. It is the thickest, creamiest yogurt I have ever had and it tastes great if you like vanilla... and I do. Of course, going along with the triple cream is the higher calorie count. Sometimes I don't care when I want to try something new. It should hold off your appetite longer though, with all that creamy creaminess. Yum....
Sometimes or maybe a lot of times, artists doodle around and make things they never intend to show anyone. Sometimes it's practice, sometimes it's just playing around, because they can. Ok... I'm saying that like I have inside info that all artists do this, but no, really I don't. LOL I think it is true though.
Here is one of those things that I created this week. As I worked on other pieces, tearing, cutting and gluing it caused there to be all kinds of scraps laying around...as usual. Over some days, I kept coming across this piece of music paper that was torn in an odd shape and on the bottom right, at some point I had used a round punch to take a piece of it for some other creation. I decided on a whim to throw some paint on it and make a floating collage out of it. I then took a few pieces of other scrap collage paper and turned it into what you see here. Colorful, fun, interesting border shape. My eyes liked it. it is not mounted on anything, the black background you see here is just a black piece of paper I laid it on to take it's photo.
What will I do with it? I am not sure, but I like it's oddness enough that I probably will paint a canvas board black and mount it. I don't do that much with my random odd creations, but I believe that will happen with this one.

Don't barf! Last night I had continued to work on this larger piece I started a few days ago. I liked it's beginnings as once again I took random scraps and covered the canvas board. I then put some black shapes on it I had painted on some wet strength tissue paper that when glued on, only the design shows as the glued tissue disappears when it dries. It was a good start. Then the next night I started painting randomly on it and the next night I glued some random collage papers on it that I liked very much, thinking they would be the focus. Then I decided to change the outside space by whitewash... nope.... then by blackwash....nope.....then white again which means it's over all look is gray... wah waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh....Then I tried to save it with more pieces of similar colored papers that had stenciled designs on them.....but in the end.....I didn't feel like it was showing me any hope of coming together, so for the fun of it, I commenced to add tiny stick people here and there. What did it matter?? Now I'm thinking I should add some large stick people to it...LOL... but I only thought of that while I was typing this post.

Here is an animation of some of it's history. Well.... I tried!!!

I finally got tired of messing with that one. I could have just gone to bed, but there I was sitting amid all the colorful scraps, so I made this tiny collage. These papers, all but the tiny blue triangle, had fallen together in the scrap pile. I took it that they wanted to get together and be tiny collage, so I obliged them. The tiny triangle addition came along after the other was completed. I'm not sure it should have been added, but it was ! This is tiny, approximately 1-1/3 X 2-11/16ths inches.

The previous one came together so fast, since it arranged itself on the table before I glued it, so I decided to do another.
This one is on a 3x5 inch card. The background green and the blue strip down the middle were just where I cleaned off rollers that I had used while creating other pieces and I liked it, so I trimed it, glued it on and then found it a medallion focal point. I tested several other pieces there, but this one won. Then I filled the center swirl with a black, fine tipped sharpie. Vwa-LA! it was done.

This... .was the beginning of another thing I started in my practice journal. Of course I put more on it after this, but when I had this part added, I thought after I became famous and then died, my family could sell this for at least a hundred thousand. 😂 I also thought if they found that Picasso or some other famous dead artist's name was on it, it would be hanging in some rich collectors gallery or in some museum somewhere. You've seen that before haven't you?
Just some more of the hilarious thoughts that travel in and out of Jacey's head.

For the last of the art oddities, as I mentioned above, I had played with putting all sorts of black marks on wet strength tissue paper and after, I wanted to test to see how they would act when glued on. I didn't really plan to make anything valid out of the test piece. I chose this big music page that was in my random paper box of papers, waiting to become painted collage papers. I glued random torn up pieces of paper to it to use for a base and then after that dried, I glued on several pieces of the tissue paper that had the black marks on it. I tested it because, sometimes when I am working on a new creation, I come to a point where I would like to add some black marks to it, but I am always hesitant as if I my hand doesn't go right and something too wonky comes out that I don't like, well...there it is and now I would have to regroup. I know regrouping is part of it.... but sometimes I like the base I have created and I don't want to have to regroup it. I thought if the tissue worked out, I could make my marks in black or other colors and then I could lay them around on the piece before gluing and see if I liked them before they were permanent. I think this may work out in some cases from this test.
The pink swish-swash around the outside was not on the original test, but I got a new bottle of Golden Primary Magenta one day this week and some of it had to go somewhere...LOL...and this test piece was just laying there.... so....
Lovely... right ?? 😄 😉

I hope you enjoyed my Odd Art post. Once again and as per usual, soon I will be heading to Mom's for the afternoon. I didn't have to cook anything or plan to pick up lunch on the way, because she has cook Beef Stroganoff... well... a version of it that is very tasty. I am looking forward to that with a baby greens salad. Yum !
I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a happy week.
Love you!
Jacey
Greetings Jacey,
You have been so very busy. Enjoyed seeing all your arty pieces of work....Thank you for bringing to Hive. The colours are fab and the GIF is very clever...well done!
Happy to hear you will be visiting your Mum today. ^__^
Thank you for your lettre from Home....Enjoyed!
Cheers, Bleujay
I have been busy! It seemed I spent more time this week organizing my table and supplies than making art, but it all has to be done sooner or later. I do love the bright colors. They are so cheery to me.
I had a fine visit with my Mom. The lunch was good and so was the visit. I fixed some things on her computer and after, we had homemade pumpkin pie and coffee. Couldn't ask for a better afternoon.
Thanks for stopping over!
Thank you @ewkaw!
I appreciate your support. :)
I like the animated three eyed fish!
Man, I haven't had a stroganoff for a while. You have put me in the mood now!
ha ... I thought that yellow center piece looked a little fishy too! I didn't notice the three eyes though. It must have been hanging out at that drain pipe down by the factory....LOL !
The stroganoff was delish. I think you should have some soon.
I defo should, I love me a good nosh!
Anything with musical notes and guitar chords Im going to like!
I think the notes and the such look pretty neat peaking out in some pieces. Always adds some fun.
Thanks for stopping over!
I know I can always come to your posts and they find joy!
Thank you! That was kind of you to say!
I do have fun doing.... whatever it is that I do. LOL....
Thanks for stopping over.
I like that stick people voyage you have up there. The colors are pleasing. And that one little stick person toward the middle in the interior hoop looks like he is reaching out for help, and it breaks my heart :)
I do think also that it is wise to do what small pieces of paper want to do.
Glad that you are still doing art and visiting family. That sounds like such a lovely, peaceful existence.
Stick people are fun! Every time I looked at that one that appears to be hanging from the top of one of the ovals, it made me grin. Although it is still not done, that piece has had a total transition from what it was here. I would say this version wasn't speaking to me, but it was and I just didn't like what it was saying. LOL !!
Yes, I am still doing my art and making people's eyes roll with my creations..... and going to visit my 91 year old mother on Sundays.
It's pretty peaceful most times. The life of a semi-recluse. Somebody's gotta do it.
Ha! I can relate to that. I've had writing and art tell me things I didn't like too. And sometimes a droopy plant has unpleasant things to say as well.
I do not think you have succeeded in making anyone roll their eyes, but you have succeeded in relaying your creative good-natured soul to the world. I'm glad your mother is still getting on alright.
Ohhhhh.... droopy plants are the worst for complaining!
I didn't start playing with collage till last March. It has been so much fun and of course I'm still learning. I love making the collage papers and I could almost be happy just doing that all the time, but eventually it builds up to more than you reasonably need.... notice I said "reasonably"...LOL There is something very satisfying about tearing up the papers and gluing them down.
