This morning I slept in because I could. When I did get up, I decided I would take a shower and wash my hair and get that out of the way. I don't wash my hair as often now that I'm older, because age makes it not need to be washed so much. I used to wash it daily when I was younger, but no more. Now if I did, it would turn to straw and look like I stole it from a scarecrow. It's not that I'd be opposed of stealing hair from a scarecrow if I needed it, but for now that is not the case.
I was interrupted though before I could get in the shower by WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!.... ahhhh... the sound of something getting done. So I didn't take my shower in case someone needed to come in.
I may have told or not, that a couple of weeks ago some nice new handrails were put up on my front steps and in the last week, the old deck was torn off the back of the house and a new smaller one was built in it's place. The deck was rotted in many places and falling apart. It really has been unsafe for several years, so I put a sign on it telling delivery people to only use the front (my drive makes it easier for them to use the back).... and I haven't used the porch at all. The owners, my aunt and uncle have taken care of everything immediately since I got here, but that porch. My uncle has dementia now, not all gone yet, but progressing and my aunt, who is very smart, but worn out (both in their upper 80s).....just kept putting it off. I felt like they weren't recognizing what terrible shape it was in, even though they could walk right over and see. The other part of that is money, they didn't want to spend it. Now... you might think you can understand that, but two things, they have plenty of money and the cost of a porch wouldn't put a dent in their wallet. Yes... I know, I know, just because someone has plenty of money, doesn't mean they want to spend it. Thing is, it would have never passed for insurance purposes, but insurance people don't come out and look and we're kin! So what was I going to do? Just what I did, I stopped using it. 😄
Anyway, one of my cousins (my uncle's daughter) and her son got into gear once they realized what was going on and now it is done and all is right with the world. Like I said above, it is a much smaller version and that is ok, it is sound and safe and of course, that counts the most.
I've been creating more art. I know, surprise! surprise! It's full of crazy color and I love it. I thought I'd show you some of it. I have so much art I am getting behind on taking photos. I do need a better idea/set up for taking photos. Up close like I show them shows the details good, but often my eye will pick up different shapes or it will give off a different vibe when seen from a little distance and it's interesting what changes and what stands out more. I tease and say click one up, run halfway across the room and look at it again... LOL! Yes I'm being silly, but for real some of them change a lot. I will be thinking on it and trying to figure out how I can do it differently, but for now, it's just the same.
This is on a 12 x 12 wrapped canvas. It wasn't meant to be anything particular when I started, but it kind of turn into a hint of something.
Talk about random abstract! One day from across the room I thought I saw a cartoon'ish woman in a skirt in the bottom left quarter, but today I can't see her.
10 x 10 on canvas panel
This one was a little more controlled even though it is also simple abstract. A little cleaner and less loud.
8 x 8 on canvas panel
This one is..... colorful. LOL There is something that I liked about it and something that doesn't quite seem finished, even though it is.... I think. Just as I typed that I saw ONE little place that one more tiny thing might need to go. Sheesh!!
8 x 8 on canvas panel
I can set the woman in the skirt, she's in blue!!! 😀😀
Then she IS there! I just knew it!
I saw you had a post up! What??? ha ha..... I'll be over to visit later.
Thanks for stopping in. I appreciate it very much.
Hehe, one of my increasingly rare posts. I will be trying to post more tho!
It was nice popping open feed and seeing you right there at the top!
I really can't throw stones about posting. Before a couple of days ago, I think it had been about 3 weeks since my last post. I haven't been waiting that long in-between for a while, but for sure it happens! I'm sure it's been longer than that from time to time in the past too.
I like it when it doesnt have to be a daily chore, I used to ahte the feeling of having to churn one out all the time.
I shall count it as serendipity that yours was there when i looked! :O)
Greetings Jacey,
These are lovely! So much energy and colour....the third one down or the second one across makes for a lovely trombone....just delightful.
Happy to hear your back porch is usable once again. Here's hoping you find another chair soon. ^__^
Kindest Regards,
Bleujay
