Painting Iguaçu Falls 🍃 - Art/Painting/Digital Art

Hello everyone, I hope you’re day is going well so far.

This is a digital painting study of mine from a photo I took on location on Brazil’s side of Iguaçu Falls from my trip last year. I also finished a few watercolour & gouache paintings on location when I was there, which was a challenge with the crowds of people all around, some standing over me as I worked, but so worth the effort.

Plein air painting is a difficult challenge with a time limit. You are forced to make quick decisions on your direction and what it is that you want to capture, as situations in the environment can change at any moment. Do you choose to go with the flow of the weather and adapt your painting? Or do you stick to your original idea no matter what changes occur? These questions you must ask yourself and act on quickly.

Iguaçu Fallls really was such an incredible place with many great painting spots scattered around the National Park, I wanted to stop many times but then I wouldn’t have been able to explore all of it. So I had in the back of my mind that I would do some of my own studies back here in England from my own photos and memories of the place.

You can view another Iguzu Falls study I painted here; https://hive.blog/hive-174301/@robbieallenart/sunrise-at-iguazu-falls-art-painting-digital-art

I used a photo which is included in my Iguazu Falls reference pack to paint this one.

Thank you for reading,

Gyah these people that absolutely have to be on top of things and simply must touch them no matter what, they annoy me XD

And the choice between stopping for a closer look and getting on with it is another choice I hate, have had that on road trips several times. On the one hand you want to stop and look at this cool thing you're passing but on the other if you stop for too long you lose time XD

As much fun as painting on location looks like, think the photos were probably a good idea so you could explore everywhere :)

@ryivhnn absolutely, I completely agree, and I took hundreds of photos! I'm not really a fan of tours, they usher you along with no time at all, I prefer to go at my own pace and stop where I want :)
