Original Art Photography Series by @velimir #124 'Five Candles'

The name of this art photograph is: 'Five Candles'

Hm... just noticed what upload to the blockchain did to the greens. It made some strange squares. Please click on the image and open it in full size at the original location. These squares at the border of green and dark areas are not to be there. Weird.

This mysterious, maybe even mystical piece was taken in a dark hallway with a single round window. It makes me think of virtues. As candles come closer to the light, the lighter they become. At the same time, their candleflame becomes invisible. Like as if there are steps one needs to take if he/she is to merge with some greater big light out there. Steps of losing one's ego in finding a greater consciousness?

There are five distinct elements. The candles, the white circle, the darkness, the reflection on the far wall and the aura around the window. The overall darkness is dictating mood, the atmosphere of the entire composition. Its counterpart is the white circle of light. The candles are, no doubt, the main element. They gradually lose their orange-red colour with their decreasing proximity to the light. The reflection beautifully rounds up the composition, opens the left side and creates the balance of the whole. The light pink aura works well with the orange candles and the greenish tone which is coming out of the darkness. Together they create a unique colour scheme. The adjective arcane comes to mind.

The candlestick is invisible under the far left candle and it makes the candle look as if is stuck in the darkness, drowned in it. The candlestand becomes visible as we progress to the right. This is suggesting that one needs to come out of the darkness and become transparent if one is to reach ideals of enlightenment.

Are you ready to bring your candles closer to the light?

Enjoy! :)

Wow. Another masterpiece again. Great explanations. I really got it.
Light is one of a photographer's greatest assets and, when used effectively, can transform otherwise dull scenes into photographic masterpieces. Candles offer a unique source of light which can produce stunning results if used creatively and thats what you did. I love it.

Yes, the light is essential. Also the ability to see it, and also to see it already transformed before taking the pic ;)

Light is more than just one of a photographers assets - it's the only thing that a photographer cannot do without :)

For me, this photo is appropriate for the holidays. It makes me think of both Halloween, Hannukah, and Christmas. During the winter time the day is darker and so is the night. The blurriness reminds me of the blurriness of time and how we tend to mix memories ("Didn't we eat something like this at a similar restaurant?", "Did I see you last Christmas or the one before?") Nice photo, the more I look at it, the more I can appreciate it.

Oh, very beautiful thinking! Thank you very much for your input. This is interesting pov indeed!

To me that photo could be the album cover for an 80s hair metal band. Am I off base? Maybe it's because I'm listening to Loverboy - Lovin' Every Minute Of It right now.

Maybe, with a couple of medieval swords under the candles. ;) No, you re not far off at all!

No sane person should light up a candle and then prevent the light from illuminating. Quite poetic! Thanks for sharing @velimir

hahaha :D
Thank you!

Incredible message at the end. Who would have explained it better if not for you. You really are grounded at interpreting light and its effects on pictures. Don't know how you do it , but it really passes the message.

Thank you very much! :)

Great post indeed. I can soo easily relate the importance of candles in everyone's lives as i am into meditation and alternative healing therapies. Without Candles, life would be soo very dull. You have articulated the post soo well. Upvoted and following u as always.

i love photography, your candlestick so nice

Wow! Thats a great art photography. I like it.

I have similar photo that I made one month ago it's not mysterious as yours, but i thought I'll share it. I called this photo ''Secret'' because when i look closely at the candle it looks like it want to say something to me, and it looks like flame still moving in the photo.

Wow! Nice photography with art itself.

Great job !!I've also taken some pictures with candles, and it's really an interesting job. Thanks to your explanation I have been motivated to work more.

such a peaceful magical quality to the picture with the candle holder being almost unnoticeable. I love the transition where flame becomes indistinct when closer to the window... one light supplanting the other. Or maybe it's the other becoming more prominent deeper in the room where the day is not penetrating. Really a beautiful picture. Even the somewhat chaotic rims of the candles seem to speak of the passage of time somehow. Very impressive.
