The exchange binance.com recently made STEEM available, and it is really easy to trade and then transfer STEEM to Steemit. You don't need a complex address full of numbers and such, just only your "username"!
(Enter the username without the "@" sign, thanks @sorin.cristescu for bringing this to our attention).
Doesn't work for me. Either I'm unlucky or I'm stupid. Opened a ticket with Binance to see what happens

To be completely honest, it felt very weird to type in my username as my address lol. To add to the value of your post @friendly-fenix I transfer LTC to Binance, convert into BNB, then swing trade alts. The BNB/STEEM pair was very convenient with a low fee. The whole process took like 2 mins, mostly due to the fact that I had to type in google authenticator and confirm the binance-steemit transaction via email... Thanks for your post.
Thanks @friendly-fenix. Would be nice if this was explained in Steemit's settings pages, but it worked. just putting your handle in the address is sketchy but it works!!
Can you withdrawal your steem just as easily straight to BNB? I haven’t tried it personally yet, but use binanace as my main trading exchange and love it. Would be wonderful if it was this simple as well!

I changed the article now, (after your feedback), see the new image; that shows that you can trade BNB to STEEM and vice versa.

No you withdraw steem as steem and then you can trade it to BNB.

Ha ha, Okay.
1./ Put bitcoin or any other listed crypto into binance.com from your crypto-wallet.
2./ exchange it into to "STEEM"
3./Send the "STEEM" like in the picture above, to your username, and then it ends up in your wallet here on Steemit. (and you can change it to "steem dollars" to buy bots and such services).
How fast are the transactio times? Thinking of converting some of my cryptos to STEEM.

binance.com is an exchange where you can trade crypto-currencies. You can also send and receive crypto-currencies. They also have their own coin (BNB). And now they trade "STEEM" our local crypto-currency!
