Although at its core, @buildawhale is a bidding bot, our primary focus has been to make Steemit a better place.
We do this by offering value-added services that encourage quality content and good authors. This can be seen in our daily Curation Digest where we feature five or more authors to reward them with additional views, followers, and potentially votes for awesome content.
We also parter with steemvoter.com to offer a $100-$150 vote trail for one special author a few times a week.
We are thinking about ideas on how we can further reward quality content and great authors in the community. @themarkymark will be announcing a new initiative soon.
We started less than 3 months ago with 20K steem power and quickly grew from 32K, 50K, 217K, 470K, 970K, and now 2.2 Million Steem Power. @themarkymark has financed this out of pocket for months at a loss to continue offer a quality, honest, and transparent service to everyone. It is only recently we have seen a break even on our weekly expenses.
This brings me to the point of this annoucement, our goal is to reward quality content and not plagarised and stolen content. We do not have the capacity to police and censor content, it is just not techically or physically possible. If we do find stolen content we reserve the right to unvote it without refund. This is not something I like to do as there are services that are paid to deal with this issue. We are still figuring out the procedure and how we will handle this.
Good morning, I used buildawhale for the first time, went great, but I tried it a second time, and it has been 10 hours and still no upvote, or refund? is there a onetime per day thing?

Smaller bids already get an equal proportionate share and thus, are actually more profitable.
You are asking for advantages when you already have them.
Auctions don't have maximum bids.

Perhaps you could work with steemcleaners, if you could have a weekly report on abusers (just the plagiarizers) and cross-check it with your stats, it would help
We don't have the manpower or resources to plagiarism test 300-400+ articles sent in daily and @cheetah already does this.

But having a "black-list" at least gives you an idea of which users to be more careful on.
Perhaps a collaborative effort and some brainstorming will work it out. If I can think of anything, I'll definitely contact you.
There is a global blacklist project underway and we have a local blacklist as well. It adds a lot of systematic issues though.
Sure, as the scale grows larger it gets even more difficult to control things.

Oh. Thats easy to explain. Its a bid bot. The bidding window is 2.4hrs. With your 1sbd u got only 0.51% of the total cake. Means that lots of other people also participated.
If u get less sbd back than u bid this means that in total more sbd was bidden in the round than baw can vote in one 2.4 hrs cycle. Its also kind of bad luck. People usually dont 'overbid'.

You are bidding for a vote which is shared with other users. Many times (like last night many got 250% ROI) it is profitable, but there are times it is not if it is a busy window.

Right now I will handle it on a case by case basis, we don't have the manpower or resources to dig through every submission looking for plagiarism. This is best left to @cheetah and @steemcleaners, if I realize someone is doing repeatedly, that's when I will take action. This may change, but that's what I have in mind.
No to sound negative but honestly I've been looking at the Daily Curation but it didn't interest me much, I'd much rather search or have a recommendation engine, I must admit I like YouTube's recommendations a lot.

We changed the price around a week ago when I noticed some of the smaller bids were not getting votes due to our Steem Power being so high and steem block chain will "dust" smaller votes (basically ignore them) if they fall under a certain number of rshares.
The PreVote club is very conservative, but still yields significant returns. (I have a case study was going to post about soon).
The way it is setup is it will only drain your account to 90% VP, so you still have most of your voting strength to use on posts you care about and people you want to support. You can easily do 5-6 100% votes daily and still benefit from the PreVote. If you want to vote more than that, no problem, you will only be used to vote once you hit 90%.
There is one scenario we will drain you further which I call Feeding Frenzy mode. If someone makes a bid using our service for a very large amount (think YUUUGE), we will use voters who are below 90% for a 100% vote to get in on the big curation rewards. We will not drain past 80% in Feeding Frenzy mode and doesn't not activate often.
I am planning a "Turbo" club for people who want more aggressive settings but right now I have seen non-voters going from 0.1 SP/week to 2.8 SP/week with only 1000 SP and an active user with 3K SP going from 4.6 SP/week to 7.8 SP/week while still manually voting.
