Today I would like to compare FX6 with the Komodo and explain why Fx6 is just better.
Better low light.
Higher FPS at full sensor (120 @ UHD FF / Komodo's ~40FPS @ 6k S35.)
Eye detection AF is actually amazing, and works seriously good even at high frame rates.
Built in gradual variable ND is great.
Ease of use is far better, includes far better IO options (SDI, HDMI, TC, XLR).
Battery time isn't terrible. ~120 minutes using the standard batteries but if you use V-mount / Golds then you can expect close to 6hrs on a single 135Wh battery.
Optional ProRes Raw over the 12G SDI to an Atomos.
Your computer will still like you more using XAVC-I. Consider that DCI 4k @ 24fps is 240Mb/s XAVC-I vs 6k 17:9 280Mb/s R3DHQ, visually I haven't noticed a difference.
Komodo quite frankly is just annoying to use. Screen is terrible, need the SmallHD Indie 7 just to use the camera.
Noise is still an issue even at """base""" ISO which realistically is actually 500 and not the 800 as advertised.
IO is pretty bad. Single power, single SDI, single accessory which is all Lemo so you'll need break out boxes primarily.
Since the Komodo has 12G SDI, its extremely prone to frying versus the FX6. Loads of people still have the SDI board failures, which isn't a firmware fix, its hardware.
Likely more ideal for studio use and anything you can control. Small sure, but more cumbersome to use once you start adding accessories or anything.
