New Study Investigates Effects Of Various Cannabis Strains On Depression, Anxiety, And Stress

in #cannabis6 years ago

Researchers at Washington State University recently sought to investigate the effects of different cannabis strains on depression, stress, and anxiety with users of an app called Strainprint.

The app helps medical cannabis users to be able to track their consumption of cannabis and detail the various strains that they've experimented with etc.

They looked at over 500 different users and analyzed their app data, looking at details on which strains people were smoking and what sort of response they were recording after they had consumed those strains. Respondents were able to rate their symptoms on a scale from 1-10.

For example, how was that strain helping them specifically with pain or appetite etc. The reseasrchers analyzed thousands of those records.

They found that the cannabis helped reduce depression and anxiety almost instantly...

What the researchers had found was that people almost instantly would report their ratings of depression, stress, and anxiety, as having reduced by at least 50 percent within an hour of consuming the cannabis.

Their results, which have been published in the Journal of Affective Disorders, is described as being the first study of its kind, to analyze self-reported levels of depression, anxiety, and stress, by cannabis smokers. Specifically looking to see how the anxiety, depression, and stress, was impacted by the various strains and quantities.

Researchers have suggested that it's the first significant study of its kind to suggest which strains or quantities of cannabis people should be taking to help reduce those symptoms listed above.

"one puff of cannabis high in CBD and low in THC was optimal for reducing symptoms of depression, two puffs of any type of cannabis was sufficient to reduce symptoms of anxiety, while 10 or more puffs of cannabis high in CBD and high in THC produced the largest reductions in stress."

The study happened to be funded by marijuana taxes and liquor license fees in the state and it isn't the only cannabis study that researchers at that University are set to be working on either. They also hope to soon investigate the effects of cannabis during pregnancy, and how cannabis might be able to help with pain.

Researchers in the present study also noted that they saw respondents report better improvement to their symptoms after they used both THC and CBD. They found that CBD was an important ingredient that might be able to boost the positive effects of the THC.

Great read!

I have severe GAD, and at times is has been crippling. I have been a medical cannabis user for 10 years to treat my anxiety, and that plant has given me a life i never thought i could have.

Without it, i would not have the focus and relief I have to manage my life. No other medication has worked nearly as well as cannabis.

thank you for sharing about your experiences with it :)👍

It is good to know and spread more the healthy effects that the consumption of this healing product provides, perhaps the most practical way to help organizations work for commercial legalization.
Excellent news dear friend @doitvoluntarily, thank you very much for spreading it
I wish you a great day

Interesting articles and excellent information for the people to know. Continue to spread the benefits of cannabis. Thank you @doitvoluntarily.

thanks for stopping by! 👍:)

Good blog, thanks for focusing a lot of your energies on cannabis!

Swiss Tsunami is a strain that several people I personally know say works to relieve muscle pain as well as pain from gout. They say smoking it does not have any affect but rather drinking it as a tea seems to work very very well. They also say that there is no feeling of being stoned or other psycho-active affects.

haven't heard of that one! thanks for sharing 👍

Shit screw calling it medicine, I just like to get high.

i suffer from depression and have most of my life. Perhaps I should be taking this. Depression and anxiety gets old and we as God's children deserve better. I am learning that cannabis helps our health in so many ways. That may be why they are so reluctant to make it readily available. They do not want to lose out on the money potential. Thanks @doitvoluntarily

I could have written this comment. I’ve always intuitively known that cannabis would help my depression and anxiety. I definitely need some help to manage it. I’m now on pharmaceuticals because I couldn’t afford to treat with CBD/THC. I have absolutely no moral objection to it.

I’m thinking seriously about prioritizing my health and well-being and transitioning in that direction.

They're still learning about how healing this plant is, including me.

Last share your related two post is also very informative sir @doitvoluntarily

The sooner it's legal in the U.K. the better.

As a farmer, I'm only know the cannabis is very good for organic pesticides but difficult to use because banned in my country
